This is obviously a paid Panasonic ad. They didn’t say anything about them causing subliminal curiosity into their GH series!!
Nice comparison, both seem like great cameras. I will get the A7r iii one day…one day haha
I was ripped between both the Nikon D850 and the Sony A7III not RIII. Because of you look at it by price they will be more matched rather than the a7RIII. the Nikon is a more expensive body but cheaper and more lense options, but the Sony is a cheaper body but more expensive lenses. So they equal out.
After watching many many many videos online I went for the Sony as I will be shooting a lot more video than photos and that gives me more options there. I also found the D850 is very heavy! Still they are both great cameras and it was a hard decision.
Chelsea: love your earrings! Could you put a link to it down below? :p
unfortunately the sony is a sony would be better made by someone else
Chels looks amazing.
Sony! I didn’t even watch the whole video, I watched teh use case fo rth video and went right to the end to see the outcome, you are the Sony Power couple! What other result could tehre be?
T: “I travel with the Sony and one battery, charge it overnight and I’m fine.”
C: “I travel with the Nikon and one battery and …forget to charge it… and I’m fine.”
T: “I’m giving the ‘Battery Life’ category to Sony”
C: “Wha…?”
T: “I just wish that Nikon had USB charging.”
I mean I’ve got no dog in the fight, but the D850 makes at least 3x more images on one charge than the Sony. That’s gotta count for something. 🙂
Nikon for me !
personally i love Sony it is easier to use with gimbals the video is great the hotshoe is often not mentioned but having the best sounding preamps with the xlr adapter is also amazing for video work … slog is amazing … and they cover the whole line so i always had a a7s and a a7r and could use both for video AND photo work … (12megapixe are for some shootings totally okay) 4k video and internal downsampling i just love the sony system … even when you need even better video, they got you covered with the fs5 and fs7 …
I think you guys should have used a number scale system to rate each category.
Couple things:
Highest resolution? Canon 5DS-R is higher than both.
Selecting the Sony over the Nikon because “I can’t remember to bring a charger”? Can this person remember to bring lenses? How about their pants? Did they remember to wear trousers? Did they remember the location of the shoot? Picking one over the other because of an owner’s stupidity doesn’t seem a valid reason to me…
And I got no dog in this fight: I own neither Sony nor Nikon. It just seems like a justification for the Sony, and for someone like Tony, who really promotes the science, that seems a rather tawdry answer.
..Joe
I give the A7r2 and am very happy with it, so I would go to the A7r3. There are only two disadvantages to the Sony: 1 which is not so well protected against dust and food, ergo I have to give it to the sensor cleaning every two years. 2. The GM lenses are unfortunately too expensive and adaptive (with metabones) the focus is too slow for sport and wildlife. Since I do not shoot sports and wildlife often, you are fine with me. But the Sony Haft has many advantages that were called because of it. Sony Rules.
Hey Tony, sorry to sound disrespectful but I am interested to know what kind of special training did your wife undergo because I need it to. I am not obese but a bit large and would love to be skinny and fit as she is thanks!!!
I think, they’re so close it depends just in which system you invested before. I don’t se many reasons for a Nikon shooter to switch over to Sony, just because you get that beast you want. I have the A7RIII but it’s not that working horse, that tool, that the Nikon D850 is. The Nikon feels so much mature.
But there is one point and thats the button layout. You like the Nikon, I love the Sony for it customizability. I can use the Sony in M with three wheels for shutterspeed, aperture and ISO, without clicking any extra button. For me, thats the most essential thing at the Sony.
Perhaps a thinly veiled attempt to influence Nikon in ways not to screw up their anticipated mirrorless offering?
You’re clearly both shills for the Fujifilm empire. So blatant as well.
I love the E-finder so I am so biased for mirrorless cameras, and I really love Vintage manual lenses. So I think a camera is better depending who is using it. Both are great cameras. I think canon is the big loser on Sony rising.
Good job at filming mister Canon 6D2 🙂
The Nikon D850 and Sony a7r iii are both great cameras. In fact when I was buying my last camera I was choosing between the 2. I really wanted the D850 because of its awesome time-lapse functionality, and it’s amazing touchscreen. However, I also wanted to do 4K video that with good continuous autofocus. I guess the video was more important because I bought the Sony. I just wish Sony would pull their head out of there butt and provide in body time-lapses and a full-blown touchscreen. Oh well, you win some you lose some.
