So why would wildlife make the D850 more desirable?
Thanks for this review. Way above my paygrade, so I cannot comment on which one I chose, but good fun to watch your video (like an episode of TopGear). I was really surprised that Nikon won the timelapse part – I figured it would be noisy and wear down the battery but apparently not! Btw I love my Nikon look and feel, and when I pick up a Cannon it feels like Lego og Playmobile – very plastic-ish. I really hope Nikon nails it with their mirrorless. Look forward to your review!
I have a similar family make up to you guys. My wife and I have a daughter who plays sport and the iphone was not cutting it. I knew nothing about photography and for that reason I purchased a camera system that gave me the path of least resistance. Started with the Sony a6000. Having your videos (and an electronic viewfinder) made learning easy and fun. I now use a full frame a73 have several lenses, more camera bags that should be allowed and love photography. Documenting our family, our holidays our daughters sporting progress is priceless. Sony for me, they made the journey easy and scaleable as my skill level progressed. Thank you Northrups for your channel. Much love and respect from a dad in Australia.
I switched from the D850 the last camera I really thought I would even own to the Sony A7iii. I decided on the switch to mirrorless and I did not really need to continue as nice as a 45mp camera is.
The Northrups have become Sony shills.
All great info, Thanks for posting the video. I agree the eagle with the fish image is remarkable!
Hi Tony, you are looking good with black glasses in photo
Sweet, T&C doing the handpuppet show format.
You can see Chelsea trying not to be biased, but as the check list goes on, you can really see she loves her D850 LOL
I think you should send me one of each so I can make an educated decision. 😜
Two different cameras…I’m a Nikon guy but I really believe the D850 is better than the Sony…fact
I have to agree on the USB charging advantage. Wish my 6D II had that feature.
As of now, these are the two best cameras ever made. Hopefully, that will change after Photokina.
This is like the Koenigsegg Aguera vs the Rimac Concept One for cameras!!!
sony
I think at this point, Sony has proven itself to be the real innovator in the space. I’m a Canon user that’s slowly adapting and migrating to Sony because they are listening to photographers, they will continue to build out a fantastic universe.
Thanks for posting. Great info!
D850, largely because those Sony ergonomics are dreadful and make for a bad shooting experience. When will Sony learn?
Excellent. I’d choose the mirrorless though. Seriously SLRs are just straight dinosaur. Future proof your purchase and avoid SLR. Note I’ve been an SLR shooter since 2005 with the original 5D. There’s just no reason to have a giant useless box that just increases weight and size and imposes image quality penalties for wide angle lenses. If you’re a full time professional in the field or a wildlife shooter (only cause current mirrorless lens selection) then I’d go SLR. But for all of us amateurs and advanced amateurs shooting for fun, mirrorless all the way. I also love charging my XT2 and X100F by USB too. Good point on charging
Great comparison of two great cameras, also Tony you are lucky to have such a lovely working and life partner in Chelsea.
