The fact that you need to buy the battery grip a D5 battery and charger adding an extra 1k to the price bugs the hell out of me wondering if I should just keep my D500 as a backup high speed body partner to the D850 or sell the D850 and buy the extras having only one body to shoot with. Opinions would be highly appreciated.

Looks like Nikon are back in 2017. To be honest Nikon has been hit and miss. The D500 and D5 are great camera’s. And with the Nikon D850 they are in great form. If only they got the D7500 right and kept the two SD card slots and the 24 megapixel in it.
Also they need to fix the Nikon D750 completely and bring the price down on it. To at least 1500 pounds with a 24-120 zoom.

Sony A7R2 still leading the way in almost any aspect, Sony’s cameras are way ahead of the game, Just waiting for Sony A7r3 is probably going to put Canon and Nikon out of business , Sony in 3 or 4 years have done more than Nikon that have been in business for the last 100 years.

If the Sony A9 is the best mirrorless full frame camera in 2017 then the Nikon D850 would undoubtedly be the best full frame DSLR in 2017.

Tilted touch screen was an privilege of mirrorless. Now flagship full frame dSLRs copy it. The latest models of dSLR have decent autofocus with live-view (no need to look on the viewfinder). The gap between mirrorless cameras and dSLRs is closing.
