Seems great in a lot of areas but video and live view are still lacking. Slow image refresh rate in Slient LV burst with slow CDAF and no Focus Peaking during 4K video are what will keep me from considering this camera for my work.

Using my D800 for years to come, but as a Nikon person this makes me happy. Basically everything about this camera is amazing apart from the fact that they removed the pop-up flash. I used the pop-up on my D800 all the time for CLS (triggering other flashes in a small studio environment or even outdoors sometimes).

Also the fact that it ACTUALLY has a silent mode this generation does away with one of the biggest advantages mirroless cameras had. There aren’t that many situations where it’s needed, but now it can be done just like with mirrorless. Check/mate.

Being an animal “Action/Speed” photographer,,, I was shocked at the BUFFER – or,, lack thereof !.. I use a D4s & D4, & LOVE them.. The D850 looks wonderful,,, for ME,,, especially due to my health issues,,, but I’m terribly disappointed in that buffer… I can live with 9 fps,, but NOT at the sake of a big buffer… Maybe it was just Kai’s settings ? Maybe set to fullsize RAW ?? If anyone can enlighten me,, it would be VERY much appreciated -:)

every time nikon makes new body, it’s significantly better than previous one.
That’s not true with Canon. I am not a Nikon fan, but every fanboy with 5d mkIII, that wanted so much 5d mkIV, was dissapointed and most of them even didn’t consider changing with the new one.
Nikon crushes every time with affordable Full frame cameras. D750 was a huge success and i’m still using it. D610, even cheaper, not so ergonomic, but still very capable camera and now D850 sounds like good reason to buy one.
And what about Canon? 6D mkII, total dissapointment, 5D mkIV good camera, but not enough to throw away mkIII or even mkII

I’m a Canon user and Quite a Fanboy maybe…
But I’m happy for this D850.
Also Excited.
Hoping to see a canon 5DSr II lol….
Also 7d m3 and 90D.

I only chose Canon because of larger amount of cheaper lenses 🙁 I would love to have possibilities Nikon provides but I don’t have the money :/

Canon has one thing done right and that’s the ergonomics. Canon menu and canon layout is still the best. But feature wise Canon is lacking big time. Now that nikon is walking the video turf of canon, let’s hope 5D mk5 has equal punch when it gets released(with respect to that time’s requirements obviously)

Why no mention of the limited “up and down” screen?! Lack of a flip around screen makes it less then ideal for vlogging!
