Hi I am a hobiest wildlife photographer with a bit of landscapes and macro. I currently own a sony a6000 with the two kit lenses and the 20mm .I’m looking at the sony a7ii with the 100-400 and the nikon d750 with the 200-500 which would be 1k cheaper so I can buy maybe another lens with that extra cash or do you have any other suggestions thank you in advance
Please stop the BS about DOF between FF and crop sensor, the DOF is mostly due to the glass. try a F5.6 on a FF and F1.4 on a crop, see which one as the better DOF. the DOF is not that big of deal between sensor, its the lens you put infront of the camera and the aperture you use to shoot.
thanks
I started off with an D3200 then went to the D7200 and now I own a Nikon D810! So I would recommend going full frame if you can afford it. Unless you want/need 4k video
ill probably go with the d750 since that has equal if not better low light and high iso capabilities like the d7100 and speed. also the bodies are quite similar too.
Why would anyone even consider the D7500? It’s a handicapped camera with only 1 card slot and no ability to use older lenses. Go with the full frame D800e or get a D610 for cheaper.
honestly just get the d750. the price has dropped a lot! if you cafe about mega pixels…then d800. but remember since you seem to have a crop sensor lense set up, be aware you have to get new lenses. I suggest save up for fx lenses first. then get the fx body.
I would go with the latest brand new or factory refurbished full frame DSLR if sensor size is all that matters. Older DSLRs don’t do as good as newer DSLRs in low light, and the newer DSLRs often have better dynamic range than the older DSLRs.
More important, dead pixels and a worn sensor can be a huge issue with USED full frame DSLRs. Especially with the D810E which was designed for long exposure night sky photography at high iso. This means the sensor was put through a lot of heat, during the long exposures at high ISOs (I’m talking real low light conditions of long exposures 30 seconds to several minutes at ISO 6400 and higher). Thus causing accelerated wear to the sensor which can result in noise when shooting higher ISOs even at faster shutter speeds. Also, over time sensors develop dead pixels and they do impact the performance of a camera’s low light performance. I sold off my D7100 because, I shot a lot of night sky galaxy landscapes and it had developed a lot of magenta noise, as well as dead pixels. Although it only had 26K shots, it was 26k of mostly long exposures of the night sky landscape. This is why, I never buy used camera bodies.
Thus, go with the newest full frame DSLR or Crop DSLR, and avoid the USED when it comes to DSLR bodies. Also, with Nikon premiering their new mirrorless next year, we may not see any more DSLRs in the future. Thus, get yourself one of the latest DSLRs to future proof your investment.
I disagree, the 7500 takes better images than the 800…I have both
D7500 is no good, its more of a d5000 upgrade.
Nikon D800E: Full frame, expensive. Pro for photography
Nikon D7500: Cropped, cheaper. Pro for video.
I’d go D800E if I had the money!
D7500 is great option no full frame is only your best option most people complain this camera and really is a great camera. Yes full frame have more pixels but remember is no just the pixels give you best pictures you have to expend a lot on lens
I have the nikon D7500 whit sigma 18-35 1.8 . And 17-50 2.8 sigma . And 70-200 2.8 sigma and for video 35mm 1.8 and the quality fron this camera is amazing and really don’t need bigger pixels and full frame is just more on the lens what you’re using and for video 4k is extremely useful used manually focusing is better than only automatically focus
I will go for D850…. Ops this video is not about is… anyway still I will go for it cox it will kill 2 birds with one stone.. 4K video better picture quality etc… but it is expensive compere to D800E, D7500 and D7100 so save your money as much as you can get something better
Can I use Nikon DX lenses on the 800E?
I want to upgrade from my Nikon D5100 to either D7200 or 800e. I have 2 DX lenses, 35-135 and 70-300. If I go 800e should I get FX lenses as the DX lenses would minimize sensor field which I would have on the 7200? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
