I’m so thrilled to know what camera I will be buying in 3 years from now. My current cameras are still in the “new” category and don’t really need another body. I so much hope that Nikon will continue with releases like this. Thanks for the video!

I think this video has won me over from other camera reviewers, i feel like i know what i could do and how my shots would look after this video. I really appreciate the effort put into showing the photos taken by the camera, i cant watch other reviewers with out wondering what the hell i would get out of the camera.

I tried owning a mirrorless camera i couldn’t bring myself to like using it. the features and everything are great but the lack of feeling any weight in my hands when i’m trying to use a tool that i enjoy is frustrating to say the least. I want to feel like I have something in my hands, mirrorless can’t provide that for me.

That took guts!! Great insightful video. You must have known that a number of people were going to hear “ancient” referring to their 750 and respond like you insulted their children. Your comments were a sober and objective opinion that really caught my curiosity.

I quest I’m a lens junkie, Already use a Df and a D750. The D780 looks attractive but not sure it represents a big enough jump from my ancient camera’s.

Good review. You’re right, I fit the potential customer profile for this camera. I’ve moved on to mirrorless, but I have some old Nikon lens I love to use.

LOVE LOVE THE D780, proof that a DSLR is alive and well in 2020 and has all the performance in a lightweight setup. At the end of the day I’m not looking to look at a screen in the field and then go home and look at more screens!

Thank you for the great perspecitve! I currently don‘t fit any of your profile users! I have always had Nikon DSLRs until Sony Mirrorless came out! Then, I sold everything as I stoped using it professionally! And now, I am planning on doing Architectural and Indoor pictures and want to re-buy a full frame camera and start with a 14-24 2.8 lens! So, Sony A7 III, Nikon D780 and Nikon Z6 are my finaly options to choose from. One reason why I would go for the D780 is the used lens market … I can get this lens and a 24-70 2.8 for the same price as one mirrorless lens! So, question remains … do I or shall I invest into an old, potentially running out system!? And will how much extra weight will I have to log around!? 😉

Is it just me or are people still sticking to DSLR’s? I meant they’re like tanks and the battery goes on for ages. It will take some time to for all manufacturers to buil a mirrorless customer base and a suite of lenses to boot.

I think this camera is fantastic for macro photography, combining a great viewfinder with the excellent love view implementation. There isn’t a z mount native macro lens yet so would be using an f mount one in any case

Just got another new D750 for property and will be ordering another, looked at this but i would rather have 2 D750 than 1 of these? Far too expensive

I am an admitted Nikon F mount lens junkie. I got my first 35mm camera in 1977 when I was just 12 yeas old! My transition to mirrorless cameras has been hindered by NIKON! Nikon fell flat on their face with the worthless FTZ adaptor! F To Z adaptor! Why not include a screw drive motor in the FTZ adaptor to maintain auto focus capability for the millions of F mount “screw drive” auto focus prime lenses? That would make the transition to mirrorless, smoother and le$$ painful for u$! That’s not a typo it’s a $ sign! If in time I have to dump my Prime Nikkor lenses I will switch brands!
