Oh I purchased that same 80-200 manual ones last summer on eBay in very good shape for 70 dollars. Great value!
Ok I think this is the camera for me!
Total lens junky! And really the only other camera where I want to use all my old glass is the Df.
But the rear screen focus peaking etc.. makes this very tempting
Good show, you gave it ur best shoT! Weights what broke th wagon. Cheers!
I love the images you have captured with this camera. It’s not for me, but it is a very capable camera, and will suit some.
hmmm cheesed off it doesnt have contacts for a grip .. nikon say they didnt sell many grips … so i feel nikon are penalising us because people have been buying third party grips ,, so its a crappy reason and i hope nikon get serious grief for it .. they pulled the same stunt with the d7500 , and to top it off made it all plastic @#$! Noooooo . the reason the 7000 series went so well is because of the pro build quality and grip quality all alloy panneled build quality .. its like lego have took over nikon ! but thanks for the usual great reviews 😊😊
This channel has come such a long way
Love everything I’ve read so far about this camera except for one thing.. NO BATTERYGRIP. One of the major drawbacks on the Z-series somehow managed to make it’s way over to the DSLR as well. Unbelievable.
I could never ever go mirrorless. I can’t stand them. In fact, I still miss my Nikon FE2. And film. And a split screen manual focus. I love technology, but resent that I have to upgrade my camera body to keep up. Definitely will be going with the D780 when I can afford it.
The mirrorless system doesn’t seem to be the revelation everyone Including the manufacturers were expecting.
I own the Z6 and Z7 with several lenses. These are good travel cameras but I purchased the D780 to use with my F mount lenses to use until Nikon finally comes out with a true Z mount full frame sports and wildlife camera with dual card slots, fully functional battery grip, etc. This won’t be available for at least another year and I don’t want to sink $6,500 into the D6.
How does it fare for video? I have a d3400 and am wanting to upgrade. A feasible option for me right now is the z50 but if this has pretty decent focusing with video id love jump into getting a fx dslr.
4:35 – LOL… Guilty.
Still love my D850 and D500, use them together with the Z50 (with the adapter) but I don’t see myself buying any DSLR even again. The Sony A7Rx family is where it all ended.
Well the only downside of this camera I will say it’s the price point, way too expensive, at this price I can get a better camera I hate to say it cause I am a Nikon shooter.
How can i find the option to shoot on raw? I just bought the camera and I can’t find it or see it…..only on the storage mode that tells me that slot one for jpg and slot 2 for RAW
But the price). If it would cost 1000 or 1500 yes, then as a dslr it would be nice choise. But the present price you can go with new mirrorles full frame. And mirorrles is fufture.
I like the correlation you bring between the D780 and the F6. I think the idea of a legacy device is a perfect way of putting things. As someone who has recently picked up film photography using an F100 and FE, I can appreciate the “lens junkies” out there. Honestly, there is a TON of Nikon F-Mount glass available out there for a FRACTION of what a Z body + comparative glass might cost me. Granted, at the end of the day… I also have a D750 which I don’t figure will be traded in anytime soon. Great video!
Hmmmmm….. you talkin’ to me? Yup……. and you knew it 🙂
Great review. Still torn between the Nikon D500 and this D780.
Wel,l, lens junkies isn´t maybe right.
What if you want to shoot animals, laying somewhere watching through the optical viewfinder and wait for the perfect moment? On the mirrorless camera the batterie will be empty right in the moment you need it. Well, and the focus system of the D780 is perfect for sport. I think, it isn´t as good as it is on the mirrorless for sport.
It´s hard to choose between the mirrorless camera with freaking expensiv but very good lenses that will be the future and the old DSLR System you got some lenses for and that is a reliable and good system. And well, I hate the maximal 30 seconds exposure time for Z6 before it come to bulb. The D780 comes with 15 minutes. Hopefully the Z6 will get a firmware update for that.
The only DSLR I can stomach right now is my D810. And, It’s only because I really like those megapixels.
