We noticed D780 video was shaky. We’re buying D750 & D850 this week. ❤️☝️ I joke around and call myself click chick . Thanks for all your information.
Ps, My husband drives Engineer for Union Pacific. Noticed you had great shots of it. We’re hoping to catch some of this history. Huge choice yet settled on D750 & D850 . Excited to order this week
That looks to be a great combo of both mirrorless and DSLR. I still feel as I am no into the Z system, that I will keep progressing that way. For my DSLR needs I will just hang onto my D500.
Love my D500
The wedding photographer. D750 was a legendary wedding photographer’s dslr. Seems like this one is too!
Maybe i fall under the category: Low Tech. Because i still use my Nikon D3000, Nikon D90 and last month I bought Nikon D610. I invested few F mount legacy lenses AF-D and few AF-S VR lenses as well. Technology has a big positive factor to us as well because of the improvements that camera manufacturers integrated to the system every year or every 6 months or every few years or so.. As long as camera manufacturers will still continue in producing dslr’s despite of increasing demand for mirrorless, I will still use dslr due to massive variety of legacy lenses that I can use.. From the 1st party lenses up to 3rd party lens manufacturers.
@TheSnapChick: I think that Nikon should have included IBIS in the D780. What is your opinion? Also, touch focus point and 3D tracking.
I hope it doesn’t have the shutter issues of the D750. I am not ready to jump to mirrorless. D850 is the best Nikon ever made.
I would definitely get this… when it goes below $2000 because I don’t think I’m ready for a mirrorless camera yet and it looks like a nice balance between the DSLR and mirrorless.
I bought the D780 a few weeks ago and it’s all positive. Love it.
Informative and now I’m cautiously interested. I shoot a D800E with Rokinon/Samyang manual primes and want to upgrade next year but don’t want to give up my F-mount glass. Is there a pro body DSLR out there with great low-light capability AND focus highlighting?
I´m like yourself more invested in mirrorless but that doesn´t stop me from appreciating an amazing camera like this that caters for different needs than my own. Great video, keep up the good work! New subscriber here 🙂
Not on the mirrorless bandwagon and don’t want to be. I do not like EVF’s. Moving some of the features from the mirrorless to DSLRs is good. I really do not want to replace my entire system to go mirrorless either. I hear you can use adapters but there are issues with them. The D780 may be a good thing to happen to Nikon.
D750 owner waiting for video = D780
You, M’lady, do the best reviews! I am a camera junkie who just happens to be addicted to Nikons. This camera has me interested. Thank you for another excellent review!
Pretty much the best of both worlds, love what the D780 offers for legacy, we currently have a D750 and a Z6 so have invested over both formats, new 20mm s lens on order to pair up the the 50mm and 24-70f4 and add that to a host of Tamron G2 lenses we are very happy with what we have. I’m very excited about the D780 and will probably invest in a year or two when the prices have come down because of the live view ability and updates sensor in D780. We really couldn’t be happier 😃
Perhaps more like the F100 😀 I think Nikon still has a trick up their sleeve, they’ll come out swinging with the D880 to be the F6 equivalent. Also: D glass, so fun to use!
no company should produce DSLRs anymore, its a waste of materials and resources. Mirrorless is the way to go.
I love my D750. Perfect for my needs. But it’s aging. The shutter is well over 260,000 actuations. It could last for another 100,000 or it could fail tomorrow. Nikon repair centers are closed, and even when they reopen, it will take months and many hundreds of dollars to replace the shutter. I need a new main camera. I can afford a D780, and I love its features, especially battery life and two card slots. I cannot afford to buy new lenses. I have to stick with F-mount until I win the lottery. The D780 is perfect for me. And I’m not a lens junkie, just wedded to F-mount. And I bet a lot of old-but- excellent F-mount lenses will come onto the market as people dump them for mirrorless. I might move to mirrorless when some lens maker creates an affordable tilt-shift lens for mirrorless, which is the lens that I use every day for my work in real estate. I bet I’ll be waiting a long time for that.
Another camera to add to my when I win the lottery list
