What is the difference between dynamic area af and single point af in nikon d5300? Both are same so in manual mode so I’m confused
Just bite the bullet and buy a D500 Never buy a camera the price of a D7500 with only one card slot, cards DO fail and if that happens with no back up you have lost everything, I had a SD card fail in the middle of photographing a model, fortunately we just did the shoot again which she wasn’t to happy about but that taught me a lesson always use 2 card slots. Two more caveat’s against buying the D7500 is that you cannot attach a battery grip to it or use older AIS lenses, now this may not be a big deal for some people but the camera has a limitation and that to me is a big NO NO especially the price Nikon are selling it for
Hey Matt,
Jim here, I’ve sent You yesterday a very complex question on your e-mail regarding the quality of canon lenses for APS-C canon cameras. Could You please have a look on that? It is very iportant for me and potentionally it could increase the ACTUAL quality of massive amount of people. Thank You
Get the d7500,, enough said
Agreed with APS-C, with one additional point. D5300 is 24MP, D7500 is only 21MP. For some people it will be a downgrade rather than an update. Far better will be the 24MP D7200 as an upgrade.
That’s a tough question, in absolute image quality terms I’m going to lean towards the D7500. I’d say the Nikon’s APSC 20MP sensor is going to beat the G85’s 16MP M43 sensor in low light for example. I’m also going to suggest that auto focus tracking and aqusition for moving subjects will be vastly better in the D7500 over Panasonic’s less than stellar DFD contrast detect. On the reverse the G85 will likely feature better video autofocus given Nikon cameras are generally the worst out there in that aspect. Both feature single card slots and similar maximum frames per second. I guess the main deciding factor is do you prefer mirrorless or the classic DSLR? Is absolute weight and size an issue? Both will be perfectly capable stills cameras, your decision will ultimately be based around what you want to shoot. 😊
Well, I own a D7500 and I can see why people were kinda bashing it when it came out. It’s definitely more of a video camera than photos. The great Sony A7sii has what like 12 megapixels and the quality of video it produces is insane. You don’t need a great number of megapixels for video but you do for photography. I even recommend the 7200 over the 7500 for photography. But if you want better quality video I would take the 7500 any-day.
I can’t make a decision; I have around a $2K budget (travel/portrait photography) but I can’t decide between a used Nikon D600 and a tamron 24-70 f/2.8 G2, a refurbished D750 and a Tamron 35mm f/1.8, or a refurbished D610 with the tamron 35mm and a Nikon 85mm 1.8G? I’m wanting to get it the first week of March
I agree G85 is the killer. I really can’t think of a better camera at its price point. Now if you wanna spend more cheese then yes there’s no choices to consider.
Still IQ: Nikon kills Panny m43’s like there is no tomorrow; video: Other way round due to panny’s superior video af
Get the G85. Enough said.
I’m late, but I hope that someone will serve … I have Lumix G85 and Nikon D7200 … for video I will not compare why Obviously G85 wins everywhere. In photography being D7200 of 24mpx that G85 does a better job in high ISO and JPG … however Nikon is still better in Raw and high isos … there is for now my G85 goes with me everywhere and Nikon is left alone for show and serious landscape photography (with tripod) since without tripod, again G85 is much better for its stabilization that allows to lower more speed and not climb so much iso … the winner clearly G85
I recently start shooting insect and bugs. I own d750 and sigma 105mm f2.8 macro lens. My biggest issue is dof with full frame. I want to buy d7500 and use my sigma lens or buy g85 plus olympus 60mm macro lens. Which one is a better choice?
