Eric Rossi it’s an excellent camera, great for travel, wildlife especially without breaking the bank like the D500 does and we use with a 16-80mm for amazing quality product photography that we do professionally. for certain situations this camera is choice over our D750
I couldn’t care less about one card slot and the UHS1limitation with the shooting I do. I never use video. I have no need for a grip. I’ve got all the lenses, so given this month’s price at $800US or $999Cdn, I will likely get one
Sir,
Which is best to buy sony a6400 or nikon d7500 for wildlife photography and macro photography
yes there is athird party grip i have one if interested please get in touch
Wow
those big hands making the d7500 look like a cellphone LOL 😀 😀 Nice informative video though, seriously considering buying one. I’m more of a stills guy and I already own 4 DX lenses. That’s the reason I’m sticking to Nikon. Otherwise I would’ve jumped ship to Sony mirrorless long back. The A6400 looks good but good lenses are expensive and choices are less. Curious about that glass you’ve attached to the camera. Care to expand on that?
I did a touchy feely..& pricey test today if the 3400; 5600; 7500;500; and the z6
I liked the feel of the z6 and that it’s quiet, the 500 was big, the 5600 was too lite and small..does this sound like Goldie locks and the 3 bears? I ended up choosing the 7500. I knew it has drawbacks…but it’s my first dslr, and definitely an upgrade from slrs.
Thanks I loved your critic, it sounds spot on.
I bought the Nikon D7500 last month and I’m taking some amazing pictures with it. I chose a Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens for wildlife & now that I understand a bit more regarding aperture, shutter speed & iso, I ‘m shooting in manual mode and I am very pleased with it and have some very sharp detailed pictures of birds in flight even zoomed @ 300-500mm.
This camera is capable of better pics than my skills at the moment but I am learning more everyday. I bought the Nikon 18-140mm kit lens ( used on eBay) that was like new condition for $175 and it’s perfect for landscape & general photography.
Great video btw. I’m sure I’ll I will upgrade in a year or two but not until I master this camera and all its features. I think the D850 would be an amazing camera as an upgrade from this. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts etc… a very useful presentation. I am grateful for everyone’s comments as I am seriously considering upgrading my D90. I have three DX lenses so don’t need to apportion potential savings for glass. Still don’t know which way to go D7500 or D500 – back and forth like a yoyo! Second card slot and grip issues not important to me. Amateur/enthusiast level, keen to learn more… enjoy shooting outdoors, landscape, buildings, etc have the budget for either but leaning towards D7500 as it has built-in flash and is significantly lighter.
Great review! I am looking for a camera for my trip to Northern Norway and I’m hoping to capture the Northern Lights , in addition to lots of landscapes – do you think this would be a suitable camera? Thanks 🙂
Just got the D7500, not very impressed so far. Build quality is MUCH lower than my old D7000, a lot cheaper and more budget plastics, the strap mounts are poorly designed cheap rubbish compared to previous models. Camera is slightly too narrow and cramped between lens and grip. Deeper grip is slightly better lower down but ruined by the placement of the function button higher up. Fingers hit any lens larger than kit, top of the camera looks like a budget model compared to other Dxxx models. Honestly, this camera is overpriced, it sits somewhere between a D5600 and 7200 in build quality, yet is more expensive than both.
You can, in fact, buy a battery grip for this camera. As I bought on Amazone.
I’m amazed at the opinionated jerks that comment on equipment they have never seen or touched. Comments from hot pocket eaters are amazing
If I’m 15 (though i have done this for a while and have gotten in the top 100 5 times in competitions with over 1,000 people) and have a d3500 (50,000+ shutter actuations) with some good glass and shoot wildlife would this be a good upgrade?
Oddly enough, the D7500’s predecessor, the D7200, had 2 SD card slots. What’s that about?🤔
Nikon d7500 or d3500 for image quality
I’m very new to photography, but I’m in the process of learning. I want my first camera to last me for a long time and suit my needs. I have plans to travel this upcoming year and have had my eyes on this one – would you suggest this?
Hello Eric – I bought this Camera about 4 months ago and it’s been a bit to try and figure out compared to my D7000? The back screen is only used to view your photos? I thought you were able to use it to make great shots with it, but no that only when you use it in Live View or doing Video’s? I just turn off the back screen now, worthless unless I am reviewing my photos! I thought that this Camera would be a game changer, but it’s not? Going back to a D7200 … this D7500 is an Upgraded Nikon D90, period!
Basically it’s an upgraded D90, or Nikon can rebadge
it to the D5700 instead of the D7500!
Where I can buy a (Carry speed L-plate ) for this D7500.? Thanks
