It annoys me that I didn’t want to pay the extra 200 bucks for a nikon 70-300, and instead bought a tamron 70-300, now i know how handy the solid F2.8 can be, and how big the difference actually is, I’m buying the Nikon and selling the Tamron 🙂 Thanks for the review on the 7500 as well Jared, adding it to the lest next to the D500 and the D7200!

Great review Jarad. I am trying to find all of the reviews you have done so I can decide on my next camera. It has to be Nikon and absolutely has to have a good variable screen. I will never get another one with a fixed screen. Can’t afford the D850 yet and the D810 has a fixed LCD screen. Aggggg!!!

Good point about the kit lens’ and maintaining a higher ISO. All the more reason to get f2.8 all the way through, worth it! Lol!

The issue with this camera isn’t the camera. It’s its placement. The d7200 is an excellent platform. The d500 price point isn’t far off the d500 either ….

I see a lot of people on the Internet maligning the D7500. Personally, I think it’s an awesome camera and that Nikon got only one thing wrong with it: the name. Everyone expected it to be a straight upgrade from the D7200, both in terms of features and intended use, so when it turned out to be different and it lacked some of the key features of the D7200, lots of folks got pissed off about that while ignoring the fact that it’s still a great camera.

Don’t look at the name. Look at the camera. Think of it as a D6XXX series camera: a big step up from a D5XXX camera with some of the features of the D7XXX lineup.

Jared, pop-up flash isn’t always such a great idea for beginners. If they invest in some quality glass, like say a Tamron 24-70, the lens is so fat, that it interferes with the pop-up flash, and leaves a shadow on the bottom of the picture.
If I use the pop-up flash on my D7100 (which I never do, unless forced to), and I’m using my Tamron 24-70, I have to always crop pictures because of the semi-circle shadow formed by the fatty lens.

How do I organize my camera gear? I hide it in my afro wig!
No seriously, I keep everything in my huge camera backpack.
It holds 2 bodies, 4 lenses + filters, sb600 flash, batteries, charger, more memory cards than I need and yeah.. That’s all I need really.
I can’t see how I could fit those inside an app.

I bought a D7200 a couple of months ago after my D7000 and the rest of my kit was stolen. In Australia, it was $1000 cheaper than the D7500, and has features that I use, and doesn’t have the ones that I wouldn’t. Kind of a no brainer…

Doesn’t have the best lights? Are you kidding me? That looks like a dream lit environment. I have a pelican case to organize my gear. Each body, lens, flash,accessory has a place. If there is a void, something is missing.
