By looking at the D7500’s mount-looks like it DOES have a focusing motor for the older AF lenses. But it does NOT have a metering tab for AI/AIS manual focus lenses.
I’m sticking with my D7100 and D5300 until I can afford a good used D500.
The d7500 does not looses some detail compared to the D7200. Why? Regarding any benchmark until today there is no lens which can provide more than 20MP on a APS-C sensor.
So if you e.g. compare the D7200 vs D500 you will have no difference regarding sharpness (check the benchmarks yourself).
all nikon is doing is renaming old stock instead of developing new lenses them like cannon are being outdone by the third parties
The D7500 has a screw drive focusing motor. It lacks the AI indexing tab for older, non-chipped AI lenses that the D7200 can use.
Also, the D7500 has the same 180k pixel RGB metering sensor as the D5 and D500, and can do 3D tracking as well as face detect auto focus through the viewfinder. The D7200 has 3D tracking, but doesn’t do face detect as its metering sensor only has 1,024 pixels and can’t really pick out faces at that resolution.
Where is the wife ?
I think there is one other group that might / will benifit from dual SD slots. Those who go on an expensive holiday. Flying to Europe from the US (or the other way around) and returning home with only half of your pictures, or no pictures at all is also expensive. Ok a good reason to do the trip again, but still. Offcourse it won’t get you into trouble like shooting at a wedding and failing. However it will frustrate anybody. Imho the D7500 should have included the dual SD slot.
With the D500 sensor they have a cheaper sensor. And i find it strange that they didn’t use that sensor over the whole new line. Just use other cheaper stuff. Less focussingpoints cheaper processor etc etc. That way it would make producing everything a lot cheaper. But i guess/hope Nikon tought this trough.
Correction about Buffer of D7200. At 2:25 sec into the video you said buffer of D7200 to be 1 sec of RAW, which is incorrect, its D7100 which has only 7 frames of RAW buffer… not D7200(D7200 has 100 Jpeg Buffer). Please correct it…
And nice videos you upload, full of Informations…
I always enjoy your camera reviews Tony. Thank you!!
hey guys I need help, tony once mentioned about the web site to check how many mega pixels your camera body can produce with different lens. That’s why he always recommends sigma 18-35 in Aps-c cameras. Anyone know that website?
Hi Tony, I am looking to upgrade from my nikon d5300, only have the kit lens so not a big collection there. But I am really confused if d500 makes sense or going with 7d mark II….
What about the white balance range? I shoot saltwater aquariums and if you’ve ever seen those actinic blue lights you’ll know what I mean. I currently prefer Canon over Nikon for saltwater but am hoping Nikon might be updating their whitebalance options. Any feedback there? Maybe try shooting at a coral shop? Ask them to set the blues on their lights. Thanks!
Nikon removed one SD card in order to protect the sales of the D500. Anyone looking for dual sd card within the DX realm will have to step up to the d500.
Awesome video! Good job!
Why not use an iPhone SD card reader instead of SnapBridge? You get uncompressed files to your Photos-app, and takes 1 second per RAW file. I also post process the RAW files to the Lightroom App.
D500 having better noise pattern(Expeed 5) than D7200 and in my view half stop better than D7200 ….metering System is way more advance and accurate which is also borrowed by D7500 ….if u r saying D3300 and D500 having same Image quality ….
this is very negetive kind of Review ….
Hey Mr Tony
Nikon Introduce AF-P Lens (18-55 & 70-300mm) which improved over Focus Peformance and less AF-F Noise
why not review that lens ( with comparsion Of course 😁 )
i’m impressed with your very detailed Review.
this will be interesting test
please tell me…nikon d7200 & canon 70d..which one the best one
Tony sounds a bit bias over the Canon and always goes hunting negative on Nikons. 🙂 But come on, everyone use these pieces arent professionals and surely professionals do know what they aim for. Consumer market, this is golden.
Doesn’t the D7500 also have a focusing motor?
