Is Nikon going to release a new D8000 series camera with a high res APSC sensor? Otherwise can’t understand much the downgrade in specs on the D7XXX lineup.

sd card fail is annoying. When I try to shoot st Patrick’s day the card failed but i dont have a back up card.

Nice comparison. I’m sure the d7500 will be a fine camera but it seems remarkably silly considering that I picked up a D500 at Christmas for $1700 with a grip and lots of extras. It definitely is disappointing that Nikon seems to be giving design cues that make the d7xxx series a step down. Things like duel card slots and the crappy strap mounts tell you that this series will be closer to the d5xxx series than it has been since the d7000. They really need to focus on a replacement for the d8010 instead . The d8xx sensor is several years old now.

I have the D7200 – i’m disappointed in this so i’m not upgrading. I was expecting more megapixels and better low light (If that’s possible for DX) and of course newer/better features…

Nice overview… But so no wedding / event photography with Sony or Fuji cameras that have only one memory card slot?
It is probably unlikely to lose all the images due to memory card failure, and a bad SD card can still produce the missing files through recovery software. A pro photographer would also shoot such kind of events with a couple of cameras so not all the images would be lost. If a card fails, stop shooting with it and switch card and recover the files.

It’s a mix of a D7xxx and D5xxx … Nikon might’ve killed one of their entry level cameras line. They said they’re going to focus more on the pro level cameras a while ago.

XT20 does not support PDAF for video. And there is a 10 min time limit for 4K.
