I so wish they added 120fps in 1080p. Really don’t want to transition to Sony (A6300) .
I think this is a step forward if you have the d7100 (which I do), especially if you mix it with a good glass (Sigma 18-35 and 50-100mm F1.8). I love my lenses so I wouldn’t switch to FF (this would mean a very large investment), also the D500 is a bit to much from my point of view. Just the other day I was thinking if the D500 was worth it for me and I realised that it didn’t as I am not a birds shooter, so that buffer would be a waste with me. From this point of view the upgrade to D7500 is just perfect as it does increase the speed. This being said I will buy the d7500 in November or when the price comes to around 1k, but I will keep my D7100 as well. The only downside of this camera seems to be the 1 slot card, even though I am using the D7100 for 3 years now and I never really needed the second card.
I think they removed the card slot because otherwise it is to similar to the D500 and it would undermine the sales on it.
it’s not a step up from D7200. It’s a step sideways??? WTF is Nikon doing???
Save a little extra for the D500. But I am biased being a D500 shooter. Now where is the D750 or even 810 replacement.
Good preview but I still choose true-light body OMD m10 mark2 with stab and prime glass for every day. I am not Arnie (
for me i will keep my D7100 it is more MP and is don’t see that match change to stop using d7100 and go to D7500
As someone who owns D7100 i dont see need to upgrade to D7500 because its not really a upgrade.Saving money for FX such as D750 or D810 🙂
Think I’ll stick with my D7200 and decent glass. 1 SD slot !!! No thanks, I like the security of writing to 2 cards as a backup, especially when shooting something important like weddings or events. Not worth the £450 extra IMO.
definitely seems worth it. and just may be my update body. I currently have the D7000 and have been looking to get a second body as my main. for $1200 I could definitely pull that off and stay with the DX body type
Not only did Nikon rip out the second SD slot. But they also down sized the sensor from 24MP to 20MP. Why would they do that?
there is one exeption in spraying and praying. In autosport, when high speed acident hapens, there is no time to react, then 50 Raw buffer is very helpfull 🙂
Hi Jared, nice preview, yet I would like to bring your attention to something you mentioned in video (1:32 ) that the AF in the D7500 has 51 Points just like D500. Which is not quite correct, yes the D7500 has 51 AF points but rather like its predecessor D7200 and not like the D500, since the D500 AF system has got 155 AF points.
This is going to be my next camera.
My old D7000 has dual SD slots. Having 1 on a >$1k body is unacceptable
I will not be upgrading from my D7200. If I were in the market and moving up from a 3xxx or 5xxx I think I would go for the 7500 over the 500.
Over the D7200 this is basically loosing some mega pixels (and yes, it matters for Wildlife when we have to crop) but still not getting a camera as good as the D500. Not worth it.
1:14 “If you ever hold down the button down for fifty straight shots, I will punch you in the face, because there is no reason to do that.” Interesting comment there, Jared. I’ve taken a series of 200-shot bursts with the D500. There are reasons to do it. Also, I live in West Philly, so, if you’re seriously willing to drive over here, I welcome your ill-advised attempt at trying to punch me in the face 😉 (Although, I’d rather talk photography with you, instead.)
The 51 point af isn’t the same as the d500…51pt is what the d750 and 7200 has, and the d500 has like 153 or something…
the tilt screen is a big deal for me, but I can’t buy a camera that only has one card slot
