same old 51 point autofocus as the D7200. less resolution than the D7200. 1 card slot. if you own Nikon stock sell it today!!!!!!!!!
ugh I got the 7200 back in October
listen to your previews really like them teaching me alott all that is out there diffrent than what I have and giving me more insight to photography.
2.7iish crop in 4k? Wtf? Using just 8mp portion of the Sensor I guess. So Still Not great for Video.
Why would they take out another card? wtf? Pure Stupid Decision.
I was worried when i bought the D500 a month ago thinking the D7500 (or whatever it was going to be at that point) was going to come close to it. Now glad i didn’t wait.
I hope I’m wrong but I think this camera is a mistake Nikon cannot afford to make! It’s actually kind of a D7200 lite! Im going to keep my D7200 and spend my money on good glass .
Seems like the perfect camera for an entry level photographer. All the ‘Bells and Whistles’, but not the large price tag to go along with it. Surprised to hear about only having 1 card slot. Does this mean we could see a D760? or possibly a D850??
swiss cheese mode. aint that the truth. haha
****correction**** I said it has the same focusing system as the D500 which it does not. The D500 has 153 this one has 51. I think I confused the fact that it has the same metering system.
wouldn’t have it if you gave it to me. Only one card slot, and 20.9 megapixels not worth it
you can find a used d500 body for as low as $1400 on an Ebay Bid. i bought all my cams used from ebay and they’ve never failed me once. but, tbh the average consumer can just buy a d7200 body for $800 and spend $300 on 14-85mm nikkor lens. Or if the consumer rarely uses a camera but wants to own one anyway, they can buy the d5200 kit for like $400-500 and call it a day.
Interesting topic. Outside of some serious action sports/wildlife photography, the D7200 gives you more bang for your buck than the D500. This D7500 is just a beefed up D7200. Image quality wise under ideal situations, the D7200 is superior to the D500. I would not jump from the D7200 to the D7500, unless I was getting into video recording. For people who don’t have a serious camera or a camera at all that’s wanting to take their photography to the next level, this is their camera. I still can’t justify one spending $2000 for a DX camera.
I do realy wanna this camera!!
there is a mistake in the video d500 having 153 af points not 51 .
I shoot with Canon but yes I have held down shutter button for more than 5secs in drive mode. In that situation I was shooting wildlife action sequence.
great review. I shoot on Canon but I’ve been thinking about buying an Nikon and I appreciate this review. Gives me something to think about I do like the headphone and mic Jack. Would be a nice camera for interviews
If it’s the same 4k crop factor 2:36 as the D500, then it’ll effectively double the focal length of your 35mm/full frame lenses and only add 50% focal length to your DX lenses. I’m pretty certain it’ll be the same crop factor as the D500, as they have the exact same sensor resolution. A.K.A. Your 24mm f/1.4 will become a 50mm f/1.4 in 4k recording.
Jared, What would make me get the d7500 over a Sony A6500? looking to do video floating on a Ronin-M and the high ISO noise performance of the Sony is attractive However I have a D7100 at the moment and a few plastic fantastic prime lenses already in my Bag. Is it worth the Jump to the d7500, A6500 or stay with what I have?
Thank you! From Florida
Is it worth upgrading to this from a D5100 ?
I still love my D90 =)
