Add autofocus performance and noise of d7500 in full hands on review video
Single card slot sucks but that is well covered.
While it’s not all about megapixels there are times when that 24MP sensor made a big difference for capturing detail. Particularly when cropping, but birding and wildlife, group photography etc…Because the IQ was good those MP could be used. What I find insane is that ALL the entry level cameras do 24MP and we now have mid and high end that have 3MP less. If I was shooting a landscape or a group portrait or an airshow or birding I’d choose the D7200 over this every time, despite the extra 2-3 FPS theoretical improvement. I really don’t like where Nikon is going and I’m much more heavily invested in Nikon glass and accessories than Canon, so it sucks for me.
Also speaking of lenses compatibility is all over the shop. No built in menu to switch VR on/off on D7100/D7200 meaning it’s not 100% compatible with AF-P lenses. I’ve read the new D7500 has removed the ability to control older AIS lenses, and haven’t seen confirmation it controls AF-P correctly (which again every current entry level camera does well).
On top of that there is the rumour that only the center point focuses down to minus -3EV whereas more points did on the D7200 body (all of them?).
Nikon: I am…disappointed.
hehe nice video Jared Polin 🙂
1 SD card and less battery life than the d7200? Yea I’ll keep my current body. No wonder Nikon is struggling
where’s the new entry level full frames!1!!1!1!
Are Nikon doing to release an upgrade to the D810? or is just folly I keep reading on various sites? regards to the 7500 seems to me it’s just an affordable entry level DX set up so perhaps only one sd card isn’t that much of a big deal price considered? over all it seems to be a slightly more up to date side step so if in the market for such a thing I’d consider that over a D7200.
what I’m holding out for though is news of the rumored (D820/D850) body. my D810 was recently destroyed so rather than spending thousands on another I’m using my backup D750 until something is announced.
I shoot with my 7200 which already was not too big of an upgrade from the 7100 that my brother owns. The 7000-series are amazing cameras though, so I was extremely excited to see a new entry to the line. I do however believe, that Nikon completely missed the mark with this camera, as they both downgraded the MP count in return of more fps, which is something they should focus on in their new 500 series. That paired with the missing SD card slot seals the deal: If I ever were to upgrade my camera without going full frame, I would buy the d500 and NOT the 7500
The d7500 is a bull shit product of marketing of nikon corporation!!!, there is not a significant reasons to do this, but yes if you take the sales in your evaluation. D7200? is a great camera?, d500 is very much better!!!, but arent not neceraly a new slot betwen. Im sorry but my very poor english, is not my primary language.
garbage. my advice to Nikon. made a camera with PANORAMIC MODE, LIKE SMARTPHONES, built in image stabilisation, build a camera that can take AA batteries as well as the lithium batteries. forget 4k videos, leave them at 1080 with the option of 720. I’m not interested in WiFi, blue tooth. the d7500 is to put it mildly, PURE GARBAGE. give me the Details 7200 instead.
I have been thinking about upgrading my D7000 for a while – great camera but I want better low-light/no flash performance. First point – even my ancient D7000 has two card slots!! Second point; I am a competent amateur and the problem was that the D7200 didn’t feel like a big enough step forward, but it is hard to justify the extra cost for the D500, lovely though it is. BUT the UK price for the D7500 is £1299 (Sterling, not dollars!!) while the D500 is £1729 – just over £400 more. The point is this; if I am going to burst through the £1000 point for a camera, I am already balls-in so I might as well go the whole hog and get the D500 – why spend the money and have a compromised camera? You are a strange company Nikon; you get it so right, and then in the next breath you get it all wrong!
No second SD slot, No Ai lenses support, No attachable Hand grip with battery, no metal reinforced body … Such a failure compared to D7200!
Thes mislabelled the camera: this is the D5700 …
The AF is not the same as the D500, it’s the same as the D7200. D500 has the same AF as the D5.
I don’t want to get punched in the face. I wonder how good the af is going to be, relative to the d500?
Why did they not go all the way and put in a fully-articulating screen? If it had that, I’d whip out the checkbook right now. Without it, probably a deal breaker along with the loss of a card slot.
I’m an entry level photographer looking for a solid camera to take:
1) pictures while travelling. mostly landscape and cities
2) burst for sports
3) film some freeski edits.
Yes I’m just getting started, but I’ve wanted to get into photography for a long time now and I’d like a camera that i can
play with and will still be by my side in a couple years.
Everyone wrecks the D7500 because its just a mix of D7200 and D500.
However I don’t think i can afford a D500 + lenses.
And I don’t have enough experience to judge a D7200 for my needs.
I like the 4k video and the 8fps on the D7500, so wouldn’t that be a great compromise?
I’d love some suggestions, if possible with reasoning. Can be something else than Nikon.
Thank you in advance 🙂
no UHS II? cannot shoot 4k really
D7500 is not D500 Lite brother nor D7200 successor. With a lack of 2nd card slot and external battery pack, it is more like in D5xxx series league.
which are compititors to nikon D7500?? and suggest me best DSLR below 1000$
You can’t put a battery grip on this thing and NO AI indexing. With only ONE sd card slot this camera is loser big time
