I like this camera a lot. I started with a D300 and still shoot with it. I’ve been looking to upgrade, not because a new body is going to improve my image quality, but because the D300 is getting a little long in the tooth. Now that I have experience, I know what I need. The D500 is too expensive for the features I’ll mostly use. The D7500 is better priced, but I’ll wait to get a refurbished one. I’m used to shooting to one CF card so one SD card will be fine. I don’t shoot video and don’t care about those features at all. The D7500 seems like a close match to the D300 feature wise and with a better sensor.

They killed the 7000 series. made it more amateur by leaving one memory card slot? all this just o introduce 4k in an entry level dslr. Sh%^^$t my iphone has 4k and its a phone. smh going to Fuji XT2 ASAP

As awesome as those features are dropping the second card slot the previous cameras in the 7000 line had makes this a hard pass.

As a 7200 shooter who has rented higher level Nikons there is some very useful feature migration that make this a much more useful camera. Aside from the second slot slip up.
Highlight weighted metering amazing for stage light shooting, no more blown face highlights.
Power Aperture so adjustments can be made after starting live view. Major help with Video more so.
Face detect af is a serious upgrade for the 51 point system that works pretty well already on my 7200.
True 8 Fps since the 7200 really struggled to hit 6.
Misses, the 4k crop is a real problem requiring stupid wide lenses to shoot 4k video.

You are confused. To say “…the same body” no way. Build different Metal+carbon vs. plastic; Focus 153 vs 51, 2 card slots vs 1, etc,etc. I think Nikon has done an “Apple” made some that is less useful. It looks like its 4K maybe good (i don’t care) and the buffer looks good. The old battery No. This is how Nikon restructures we’re in trouble.

I read somewhere else that you can’t add a grip to the 7500. Anyone confirm this? If that’s the case my upgrade from my D99 will be to a D7100 or D7200 when the prices drop

Fro the autofocus in the D500 is more then 51 point. It is like the D5. I own the D500, D7000 and D7100 and the fact that it has a single card slot is a fail to me.

I agree. The d7500 is too close to the d500. I feel like they dropped the wrong features that really belonged to the “7000 series”. The 7000 series is really meant for people who wants a somewhat well-built body with enough “pro-features” but wants to stay in APSC. Features like high fps and high ISO really isn’t needed in the 7000 series. Instead, they dropped dual card slots and 24mp? They might be doing this so that they can push customers to buy the d500. But I believe most people would rather just go with the d7200 instead. Bad move by Nikon IMO.

All I wanted better on my d7100 was better iso performance in low light. Now the D7500 seems more of a downgrade….. FK!
