Literally not an upgrade from the D7200, at all, IMO. Sure, it’s great if you’re going to shoot video and it should handle high ISO a little better, but losing a card slot is unnecessary and there isn’t enough here that would make an owner of the D7200 like myself go “OOOOOOH LET ME BUY ONE!” – nope, I’ll stick with what I’ve got until I can afford full frame….which will be never if I don’t stop buying glass.

I would upgrade from my current D7200 to a D500 or a referb D-3.
On it’s own the D7500 might be good but in context to what is on the market…meh.

Why removed dual card slots? Glad I picked up the D500. Idk what Nikon is thinking. This camera should have been for video, what the D500 is to stills… with a brand new focusing system and rotating touch screen.

Great overview…. but why oh why did Nikon go to one card slot….such a dumb change. My D7100 had 2 SD slots, so for those of us who like redundancy Nikon just killed a reason to upgrade to it. My vote, pay the extra money and get the D500…especially if you need redundant card slots, faster frames per second. D7500 makes no sense given the D500 is out there. To me, IMHO, this is not reason enough to jump from my D7100 to the D7500… If I am going to trade in the D7100 now it would be for another D500

The D500 AF system is 153 points, same as the D5. So the D7500 will be lacking in the AF department with 51 points. Still an all around great camera though.

***RANT*** For whatever reason I did not realize that the D7200 actually had two SD slots. The fact that Nikon removed an SD card slot leaving you with just one is complete bull shit. It’s my fault for not realizing this and if I did I would have ripped the shit out of Nikon for this terrible move.

this will be a serious contender for me in the future when I get and upgrade, though as others have so adamantly pointed out, the single card slot is kind of a bummer especially since it’s an older SD slot. aside from that however, I’m really liking the sounds of this camera. It may be a better camera for my current and future needs than the d500 or d750 and is a fraction of the cost.

why is Nikon just ignoring new technology!?!?! mirror less? still low megapixel, still putting out EHHH models…. cant kick sonys azz cause sony just freakin owns!! ( i dont have a sony i have a d5500 )…but comon Nikon…digging a deeper hole..
