I agree with you in all parts, including the confusion …
But I think, Nikon argue like this:
Before D500. D7200 was the top DX camera … so now in the age of the D500 … The D7000-line cannot be allowed to be better than the D500, until that one will have a successor …Thats why the reversed steps. No batterigrip. One card slot. Shorter battery life …
I will not by it. My D500 will stay for a while, paired with my D750. The later is probably the first to be replaced … as son as Nikon put a D500-lokalike-feelalike-speedalike with FX on the market.
This is an epic failure on Nikon’s part. Second slot gone, worst battery life, no option for a battery grip, AI is gone, cant use some of the new lens, and I could keep going. Really, there is no question, its a pc of crap.
This is a camera that shouldn’t have been released, one camera slot, lower battery life, really Nikon??? This is a joke, get a used D500. No Snap Chick you have no reason to be excited, Nikon needs to step up their game and I hope the D810 replacement is better than this, when Fuji is given new features through firm ware updates Nikon needs to step it up.
I wouldn’t understand why anyone with a D500 would want to add the D7500 to their collection.
I know it may not be as important to everyone, but it would make me far too nervous to go back to a single card slot for the professional work I do.
I think when the D7500 is available with a decent lens (18-140 even) for $999, or when you can get the body refurbished for $500, it’ll be an AMAZING investment for any enthusiasts who have no intention of getting into photography as a job.
But until then, I just can’t see past the single card slot for pro work, because I wouldn’t feel like I’m saving enough money to take that risk, I would definitely go for another D7100 or D7200 if I needed a backup and was limited on cash.
I wouldn’t buy a newer Nikon DSLR. The D5300 is a great DX & nowhere near the price of the D500. My D750 shutter release assembly literally broke after only 16 months. Picked up a D700 to replace it. It’s a tank. I will stick with proven used of refurb products in future. Not paying megabuck for plastic crap again.
The fact that you lose a memory card slot and the possibility of adding a battery grip combined to the reduced battery lifetime makes this camera much less interesting… I will stick with my D7100 for now. The only real upgrade option in the Nikon DX format is the D500. The other option is moving to the FX format…
I will be excited D7500 cost USD999
It should be called the D5700. It’s more like a D5xxx series camera, definitely not an upgrade from the D7200.
My D7100 is my work horse, and I love the two card slots one for backup, and long battery life. Nikon put out a camera thats not up to speed.. I EXPECT MORE! Alot more…
LOL , its crap !!!
They don’t accept old Nikkor Ai and Ais lenses
Congratulations to NIKON for not listening to its customers why anybody would want this over the D500. Its not an upgrade from the D7200 agree about the battery life . As for the video Nikon still insists that the focus system contrast detect is the best for video?? No its not its a joke so what 4k video and a crop in whilst using it is a joke. Snapchick i can tell you are not that enthusiastic about it and i dont blame you because Nikon have not listened to its customers.
the d7100 is STILL the standard of the 7xxx series. The d7200 was not realy an improvement, d7500 certainly not.
your t-shirt is nice♥️
i dont understand Nikons thinking , obviously they are fully aware of their not so good reputation and that a lot of people are going Sony , Fuji and so on , so why with this happening and this being their 100th anniversary why would they even think that the D7500 is a step in the right direction or that this is what the customer is looking for ? , i would think that a upgrade with the D750 or the D810 would be first and most definitely a full frame mirrorless , they are not going to stop the bleeding with a release like the D7500 if anything its going to push more people away from Nikon and into the arms of Sony , fuji and so on
the thing is a piece of junk nothing more than a heavy paper weight
I like the D7500 but I wouldn’t buy it. Reason is that I use APS-C only with my Sigma 150-600 sport (in order to have 24Mp and 900mm equivalency) and going from 24MP to 20MP is not for me. If it wasn’t for that I would definitely buy it because it’s very close to the D500 for less money. The D7200 AF is fantastic, much better than my D800E AF and will be good enough on the D7500.
You shouldn’t be excited by this camera. It’s basically positioned to be for hobbyists who want a d500 but can’t afford one. If you have a d500, this is a definitive downgrade. The reason Nikon doesn’t give us the second card slot, buffer, AI focusing, etc…is they don’t want this camera to hurt their d500 sales. I’m good with the sensor and processing of the d500 here in the 7500, but the main problem is the price. It should be starting at $999 not $1250…way too ambitious of an asking price Nikon.
This will be brief. I will continue shooting on my D7200.
reading the comments below apparently it looks like D7500 is not well received by most nikon fans! Good for me! maybe nikon will bring the price down quickly after release so i can snap it up cheap!
