Yes I agree it looks like a Nikon Mommy, but there were some funny rumours going round at school. I’d best check everything is okay before you hand over the money: – pass me that lovely old 20mm Ais you bought me last birthday. I want to do a couple of quick test shots.
Troll On :
wait wait Nikon is alive ?
Troll Off
I hoping seeing one day a mirrorless Nikon with APS-C or full frame sensor.
The future is mirrorless for me.
one card slot ..! God damn you Nikon.. this is not 7000 series at all
It’s a D5xxx camera with a D7xxx name and price tag
the screen tilt sucks
Wait, what… A new battery with less life? What are they thinking?
You are the first reviewer to mention lacklustre battery life, bravo. The D7500 has no support for AI lenses and they changed the strap lugs to these ugly looking things that appear they could take a chunk out of you if you banged the camera against your side. 😉 Nikon amazingly left in 1/8000 of second shutter speed but took away support for older lenses. It makes no sense.
My 400-year-old D7000 has a battery grip and 2 memory card slots. And it works with old Ai lenses. And it has better battery life. It’s outdated but overall a lot more user friendly, and the picture quality between the two is negligible despite the huge price difference.
I am actually disappointed by d7500. not actually a real predecessor to d7200. what should I upgrade to d7200 or d610 ? thanks
I think you’re being too pessimistic, maybe because you have a D500 that addresses the obvious shortcomings of the D7500 – but at a price. I think the D7500 is a good move, trimming weight from the the D7000/7100/7200 iterations at the cost of losing one the card slots. I’ve gleaned some comparative data from the interweb,
D80 | 668 g | 600 shots CIPA | 1 Card slot
D90 | 703 g | 850 shots CIPA | 1 Card slot
D7000 | 780 g | 1050 shots CIPA | 2 Card slots
D7100 | 765 g | 950 shots CIPA | 2 Card slots
D7200 | 675 g | 1110 shots CIPA | 2 Card slots
D7500 | 640 g | 950 shots CIPA | 1 Card slot
Interestingly looking at the dimensions (mm) of the D7500 compared to the D80
D80 | 132x103x77
D7500 | 136x104x73
As I expect it will have an AF drive motor it will support older lenses and so won’t be a D5XXX body.
It looks to me as though Nikon are taking a slight backward step to the “prosumer”, enthusiast level but with the extras tech of a newer sensor, tilti touch screen, auto AF tune, 4K video with the loss of one card slot.
Despite the angst about the reduction in reported battery life we’re only back at the level of the D7100. Perhaps the 4K video takes a lot more power, anyway the battery life is fine for me.
I really liked my D80 before it died, the D7500 looks likes a nice update to my D7000.
Y
It is a 5600 update not the 7200 update.
Please please youtubers, don’t compare it with the D500, that I dont like also. D7500 is suposed to conquer mainly the D7200 owners, not the D500 owners…And owners of a D7200 who thought of the D500 already thought… and expected the D7300
Change the number from D7500 to D5700 and then ‘we’ may be okay with this (if you’re in the market for a D5xxx incremental upgrade .. which I’m not btw). But calling this a D7xxx successor is, well, bollocks.
Your afraid to say it’s crap. One ad slot at 1250. No. It’s not a successor either. It’s a cheap version of the 500 with the selling title of the 7000 series.
Can you use a battery pack? I hear you can’t with a D500.
D7500 IS NOT the successor of the D7200. If it was it would have been called the D7300. The D7200 production will still run in parallel with the D7500. It is a new kind of animal from Nikon, I think the first in their line up restructuring as defined by the company’s current master plan. It is targeting the enthusiasts NOT the pros hence one and only card slot.
What is this video shot on? Looks scarily realistic…
You’re not missing anything, the disappointment at the 7500 is global! If Nikon had introduced the enhancements the 7500 does have on top of everything the 7200 already had, we’d be cheering! But to giveth while also to taketh away, was a mistake. I think this camera is more of an upgrade for D5xxx users now, rather than D7xxx users…one slot instead of two (which might of been acceptable if it was UHS-II, but it isn’t) shorter battery life, the loss of the ability to connect a vertical grip…etc. It just beggars belief!
I am with you for your lack of enthusiasm with this overpriced and under featured camera. I am going to keep my D500 and D7200. I am waiting for the FF D760 or D850.
This is what a see… you are kind of mad because you bought the D500 and now Nikon gets a D7500 pretty much the same as the D500 but for a lower price, so i think that’s why you’re not so happy about it, you spent more money and now there’s the D7500
