You didn’t tell us how much they want for the toy….. compared with the D500.
The 7500 is, upon reflection, a budget-oriented step up for folk such as myself who have entry level Nikons. We want to step up to something more powerful but the D500, D750 and D810 are outside our budget. The 7500 is a base model 500 without the same kick, but with a hell of a lot more kick than the 3400 or the 5500. That being said, I think I’d go for the 7200 because it is fine what I want to shoot and with the 7500 coming out, the clearance discount is going to drastically reduce the hit to the hip pocket!
no dual Sd,. no Ais lens compatibility, less battery, no grip …how is this D7200 update ?
If the D500 (with prices already coming down) never existed, this would be an exciting camera. If this was a successor to the D90 and the D7000 series never existed, this would be an exciting camera. As things are….it’s an odd duck. If one fell in my hands, of course, I wouldn’t complain. But I’d rather wait for the D500 to drop in price a little more and get that masterpiece.
I was hoping to see more skin! Why hide your beautiful body with such a big shirt 🙁
not to mention they reduced the MP from 24 back to 20 all for 4K.
Most of the time I shoot birds when they’re flying or doing something where I need to take consecutive pictures and I need to upgrade from a D3300 because I can only shoot 5fps and I’m not sure what to do. I don’t make much, so I have no idea what to do.
I’m like yeah the D7500 is cool but I use two Card slots on my d7200: one for Video, one for photos. I like that I have it seperated and not on one Card. If I would purchase for example a Sony Alpha 6500 with a few lenses this wouldn’t be a problem for me because I would just use it for Video. I think I wait until there is a good Deal with the D500 and buy it. It is bigger (better for my huge hands), has a better autofocus… The D7500 will probably take photos just as good as the D500 but I don’t see the point of getting a slower camera over a camera which is better and not much more expensive. I live in Germany and here the D7500 costs 1499€ (body only). The D500 you can get here for 1799€ if you’re lucky!
Good time to buy a used D7200 as the prices will start going down.
I like the look of Nikon images so surely the most two important features are the glass and sensor. I would like Nikon is come up with a budget Df, a full frame no thrills camera. Make it light like the D5000, same sort of construction and quality. I think the Df went wrong because it was far to expensive for what it was. As for the D7500, good offer but buy a D7100 with duel card slots.
I don’t think you are missing anything. I am a photographer and not a videographer; but as far as I am aware few people buy a Nikon DSLR for video, so who is this camera aimed at? I have a D500 and an Olympus EM1 mark II and I know which one I would use for video should I ever have the need. I am somewhat underwhelmed by the D7500 as I am considering a second Nikon body.
it seems foolish to add the d7500 to ones arsenal if you already have the d500…like me.
Not too little, but too late. We bought the D500
Long past time to replace my trusty D300. Although I would love to have one, the D500 is a bit costly for me. The D7500 seems perfect to / for me. On paper it seems like a D500 in a less rugged body. Again, well suited for my needs.
I think the D7500 is a disappointment. The D7100 still Rocks!
I don’t get it. All those camera’s. I will be happy with the Nikon V1 and a month or 2 in Paris, just me in Paris. And I will come home with 1000 times better photo’s than all I see here on the web. What is it with you US persons, is it about having a lot of camera’s or is it about the photo’s? The camera is only 5 or10% at the most. You are the rest behind a nice photo.
The D7500 gets two thumbs down…You’ve every right to be unexcited , pay the extra for the D500 if anything about the D7500 appeals otherwise plumb for the D7200 instead. The D7500 is the brain of a D500 squeezed into the body of a D5600.
i currently have d7200 . i mostly do wildlife & landscape. i love outputs of my d7200 . what i need is faster frame rates & big buffer for wildlife shooting & for that i will go for d500 not d7500. i don’t like d7500. reason for that ? well for my shooting style i do need dual sd card & long battery life. i think people who are coming from d3xxx series or d5xxx series can consider d7500 but who already owns d7100/7200 it will be much better to get d500 or fx camera
Well I don’t feel enthusiastic too. Reasons are not important, perhaps different or the same as your are. Eg. I will always trade 8f/s for 6f or less and the sensor of 24MP.
D500 all the way, maybe they are just buying time till they move mirrorless.
