You already have the best of the two so why would you want to go back to 7500?
I think this camera should be named D6000. As it is an upgrade and a downgrade at the same time. I put some f my thoughts on my blog: http://everything.photography/cameras/nikon/d7500/d7500-should-be-d6000/ What are your thoughts about this?
Rather than to compare it to the D500, I think its more appropriate to see it in relation to the D5000 and D3000 series. The D7500 has 4k, higher ISO, faster shutter speed, faster continuous shutter and more focus points than both the D5600 and the D3400. If you’re looking to upgrade from an older D5000 or D3000 series body, chances are you’re not looking to spend two grand on a D500 because of an extra SD slot.
This will be an epic flop considering your excellent points, but the key takeaway here is it is going to be about $1250. A very good condition used d500 can be purchased reputably for about $1500. What is the compelling reason to buy this unless I’ve never owned a dlsr before? Nikon is looking at this without considering the 7200 and d500 ARE options, the 7200 used, at almost half the cost of this or step up to the d500 and get everything for a few hundred dollars more.
Some people can’t kept up gradering there dslr. Some are not pro. Most of us are old timer, we started with film??
they have taken away the AI/AIS indexing so those lenses cannot be used on the D7500 so anyone with lots of old glass cannot use it, also it cannot take a battery grip
Wear a bikini
Nikon just goofed. Instead of it being called D7500, it’s really a D5700. Single card, No AI/AIS, definitely D5700.
Something I haven’t heard anyone mention yet. It will be using a new battery (which is a bit of a deal breaker for me, having many en-el15).
What is interesting though is the new battery is called the En-el15a. That is what the extended battery for the battery grip for the d7000 was called, and there b is no way that will fit into a body. So will that cause confusion ordering extra bateries?
7500 non starter , Just buy refurbished D500
Good thoughts SC but as you I am happy with my D500. I actually sold my D7200 to buy the D500 and purchased a refurb at a price just a little higher than what the D7500 will cost. For me, I would purchase a used Full Frame for landscape but I can see where a D7200 would be a nice back up. If I had a a D5100 the D7500 would be a nice upgrade but than again for a few bucks more you could buy a refurbished D500. Decisions decisions.
I’ll have one issued soon enough. I’ll share my thoughts on it when I get mine. Of course, I’ll be comparing it to the D500 I already own.
As a mainly hobbyist photographer with a d5300, I think this is the camera for me when I upgrade. I have never in my hobby photography needed a second cards slot so I’m not going to miss that, and I honestly don’t mind a reduction in battery life. And given the specs of the camera, battery grips will be available soon, and that will solve the battery problem.
This new Nikon D7500 camera is nothing to get excited about. To me its just a scaled down version of the Nikon D500. It’s a camera I wouldn’t even buy. I rather spend the extra $700.00-$800.00 and buy the D500. I feel the same way you do Snapchick. I am not excited about this D7500 camera at all. Don’t even think about buying it. You already have this camera in your D500. No need of wasting money on a camera body you already have in your D500.
Plenty of room back on that drawing board for the D7500.
Snapchick you aren’t correct. The 7500 is NOT the successor to the 7200. The 7000 series as we have known it for 7 years is dead. The D7500 is actually the D5700.
no ai indexing tab, no 2nd sd card slot, 1250$. nope
I’ll stick with my D500 thank you so much.
I shoot lots of birds and some sports. My main requirements are great AF, lots of FPS and a large buffer. My only upgrade option from the D7000 at the time was to the D4, which I did. Had the D500 been out at the time, I would’ve done that for sure and skipped the D4. I think the D7500 is a great upgrade from a D7000 for action shooters that don’t have the extra $800 for the D500 but frankly, I’d recommend saving up for the D500.
Snappy, if I needed a new half frame body, I’d buy a D7200 now before they get overpriced.
