I was going with the D7500 but then found out about the D500 and was totally amazed by its specs and the reviews! I received it two weeks ago and I’m so happy!
You have the Nikon D500 which is the minion to the D5 great price killer price out 🙁
Now my delima is between the Nikon d500 and the D7200! the d7500 not even an after thought at this points from what your saying is like your downgrading option c: 2 d7200 1 with lense kit put a lense on each camera and just leave it there!
losing batter life not good buy more batteries anyway!
losing a card slot on for dedicated video other for photos major lost
buff ehhh, yeah yeah nice to have
but i liked the d200 skipped the d300 but the d500 is in my sights and I’m like with the more videos i see and handled the d5 and the d500, I loved the d5 with a 2.8 lense brought tears of utopia to my eyes and the sale person saw it i was in utopia you know that feeling but the price would kill me dead! so then there is the d500 would be the way to go for me !!!
yes i store my gear in the old knuckle buster cases! so they are protected well !
I would have ordered a “lightly used” or Open Box D500, but didn’t find one, or rather, I did, at B&H, but by the time I factored the US/CDN exchange I may as well have bought a new D7500 (and saved some $$). Which is what I decided to do: order the 7500. I would RATHER have the 500, but I’m sure I can live with the limitations and less robust build of the newer model.
Big NO to 1 slot of sd card.
I have been using the Nikon D7200 for over a year a really good camera. But when I upgrade to a professional DSLR going back to cannon . will consider the Canon 5D mark 4
you can use the battery from the d7200 if you prefer. they are the exact same size. I have one in my d7500 now while the battery for the d7500 is charging. I used the 7200 battery while setting up the new camera with no issues.
I’m upgrading from my D90. So this is a major camera upgrade for me. I also shoot still life, so the tilting screen will be a life saver on my neck.
I am still learning from my 7100 and like it very much. I have a Nikkor 35mm 1:1.8G & Tamron 16-300mm F3.5-63. I am thinking to purchase a Sigma 17-50 F/2.8 EX DC OS HSM FLD then save some $$$ to buy another 7100 for backup or just buy a D500. What your think? Thanks
Anyone know what watch she’s wearing?
Why not just add $200 more and purchase a Nikon D750.
Your video is using by a dutch shop:

Go Shoot the camera before you just read printed media specs. The battery life in real life last longer than the D500. I am not a DX shooter but always had a D7000 as back up on trips where I was limited in weight and space. The D500 is an overkill for me but I agree a fantastic camera. I am excited about the D7500, a great sensor, 8fps, the previous generation focus system with a new processor is more than enough for me in a back up. Is the single card slot a major issue? not really as cards have become very good and in the past 5 yrs have never had a SD card fail on me. So my view, for the person upgrading from the D5000 and D3000 series who want an action/wildlife camera, fantastic as the price is great, they gain a huge amount in framerate, focus, and sensor quality associated with the D500. So It might not be for the D500 user, maybe a good 2nd camera, or for the person upgrading from a D5000 and D3000 series, it offers great specs and a good price. First review actually indicated, as stated, that the battery life is better than the D500.
I am more interest in birds so i have more taste toward the d7500 upgrade. I do own a d7000 and the d7100. Yes you are right battery is a concern than the SD slot.
I agree with all you say about the 7500, maybe if they had made a proper 4K video camera at this price point (having no time restriction on this camera) it could have been competitive, the 7000 has been ruined after the 7100 each itteration is a very slight increase in power (if thats the right word) or in the case of the D7500 the only additions are the tili only screen and the x-speed 5 processor and two down grades, the 20.5 megapixel sensor and losing the additional card slot.
Where is your review of the D7500?
I think it would been better not to come up with the D7500 for Nikon’s corp image or just update the video features on the camera and called it D7200s or something…
What do you use to film your YouTube videos?
your excitement was dead on… battery life increased not decreased, one sd card slot, no focus motor… no WiFi and nfc… one is as low as 700 now or get the new for 1200
As I have heard Niko say themselves, the D7200 is not being replaced by the D7500. The d7200 will be replaced I do believe from my understanding by the D7300 at some point in time. Agai,n that is from Nikon!
I am getting the D7500 over the D7200 personaly for the reason I want the power aperature in live viewthat it has and only $250. more then the D7200. But the D7500 doesn’thave Depth of field preview, and doesn’thave a battery Grip. I have decided that having Aperature control in live view is more importatt then the few things missing.
