for me cutting off 1 card slot is a huge deal, there is no way that I can support that stupid decision from Nikon and just deal with it, on top of that, with the D7500 I can’t use my manual AiS manual lenses with metering, just those 2 things make this camera already useless for my needs.
I still shoot with my D7100 and forgive me but neither the 7200 or 7500 feels like a worthwhile upgrade, a step up would be to the D500, so apart from the buffer there isn’t anything else that is considered major for me and what I shoot
if I was a beginner and wanted a better image clarity after using a D5500 and the feature of a D500 I would think its a good price. One card slot is okay with me with the SD cards getting larger and more reliable. I see newbies as wanting something small, light, fast crystal clear images
SnapChick is right…If you are looking to upgrade from the D7XXX series, move to the DXXX series, ie. the D500!
This kind of a downgrade from the D7200:
– NO dual SD card slots.
– No capability for vertical grip
– No AI index ring…so you cannot use many older manual lenses that you can use on D7200
– Yes, improved D500 digital sensor/ AD Converter / SN firmware
What a horrible camera the d7500 is. What a failure. This thing sucks. Sony opens right now bottles of champagne in their HQ and I am sure they will send Thank You cards to Nikon HQ for that bizmo 🙂
Losing a memory card slot for me is a greater drawback that reduced battery life. I like battery grips anyhow since my hands are so big. But going down to one slot is asking for issues. I don’t really care about SnapBridge, nor do I think most people do. I don’t care about video features, or tilting screens. All I really care about is what is the picture quality.
I am not seeing any reason to invest any money in this camera. It seems to be filling a need no one has, to meet a demand that doesn’t exist. I love Nikon and will stay loyal to them, but I would be more likely to buy a camera stripped of video and other frills that had an FX sensor for a lower price. I plan on sticking with my D600 and D7100, with the only other camera I want at the moment being the D300S.
I think if you already have D500 there’s nothing to be excited about. The D7500 seems like a budget D500. However if you don’t have the money for the D500, then I think the D7500 is definitely worth getting excited about, aside from battery life, which is a real bummer, it will be a great camera.
I wholly agree with that it’s a good camera ,but if you already have a D500 it would be extremely difficult to find interest in the D7500. Simply it a case of one or the other, but not both.
All the big camera manufacturers seem more concerned about positioning their products, than looking for true innovations that would be of value for their customers. No wonder it’s difficult to get excited about the resulting products.
You forgot mention that there is no AI/AIs indexing tab to meter legacy Nikkor MF lenses that was on the D7000/7100/7200. Also, another reviewer said the camera does not support a battery grip. In these ways, the camera is more like a D5000 series, but with a D7000 series price. It seems like Nikon wants D7000 series customers to buy a D500. Both Canon and Nikon seem to be a rely concerned with model cannibalization these days.i shoot Canon, but have a few friends that really love their D7100/7200. I do not think they are going to be thrilled with this “upgrade!”
Going backwards with the sensor, and a single card slot. FAIL. When is Nikon going to step it up? These are the same cameras they’ve been selling forever. Same DSLRs, same Timex watch LCDs on top, etc. The same incremental updates. They haven’t come out with anything really new in a very long time. The future is mirrorless Nikon.
Except for 4K (i don’t care about it.), Snapbridge until fixed of no use, and buffer D7200 a better camera in every other way
I have a pair of D7200’s and I see no reason for me personally to upgrade to either the D7500 or the D500 for that matter. The added features of both are nice but for me, I just don’t need 8-10 fps or 4K video. Losing a card slot and battery life make the urge to upgrade just disappear. Sticking with my D7200’s………..for now.
I like the D7500 camera, seems like a good upgrade from D5300. I have been using D5300 for 3 years and now 7500 seems perfect to me. If anyone is already using 7xxxx camera than 7500 may not appeal them. But for 5xxxx this is a good upgrade
I personally go for the D500, waiting for a refer for around $1500.00 I would pair it with the Tamron 70-200 2.8….
D500 lite as froknowsphoto calls it!1 card slot!the shitty snapbridge!would spend a bit more and get the D500!
is the 1ds3 a worthy upgrade from 70d
Get Panasonic GH5
Everything I see it more like the successor to the d5600
The existence of the D500 pretty much kills the D7500. By the time the D7500 is out, you could get a refurbished or used D500 for around $1500. You can get a D500 import model for about $1500-$1600 from ebay right now.
