If you already own the D7200 I wouldn’t consider the D7500 an upgrade. D7200 owners would be better going straight to the D500. I see the D7500 being the body owners of D5xxx series would upgrade to.
It’s not an upgrade to the d7200, even nikon have stated that, it’s a new line, if I was going to upgrade My d7200 I’d get a d500 not a d7500 which only upgraded certain things and downgraded others, the d500 would be a complete upgrade..
Nice recap. Appreciate your comments. Got the 7100 so if I were to upgrade the 500 would be the choice. Was hoping for something better that 500 to emerge so the 500 would get cheaper:-0) Looking to pair a Nikon 200 500 with the 7100 for wildlife.
There’s no way you could even consider shooting a wedding on one card.
Another factor is it can’t be used with older AIS lenses.
My advice is stick to the D7200.
I think like you, want change the D7200….I’m more for a second body….
For someone who shoots portraits professionally, I’m surprised that you didn’t mention one of the more glaring omissions of the new Nikon D7500, which is the fact that you can’t attach an additional battery grip to it where as you could easily do so with the older Nikon D7200!!!!
is there Live View controlling on D7500? (P.S. on D500 the botton of OK can do this and in D750 is optional to set and in D810 is set by default).
how is auto focus in a vlogging application
Why haven’t you bought the Nikon D500?
Great videos!
The second card slot was important to me. Actually a deal breaker. So going to the D500 instead. Oh well.
Fabulous REVIEW…. Finally!
If you can record to an external device as well as a memory card why would you be worried about no dual card slots? Great video by the way
nikon d7500 or canon 80d ?? which is better sir as my first dslr.
Another aspect of the D7500 I can’t come to terms with is the resolution of the rear screen. Yes, it’s a touch screen but at ~950K it takes us back to about the resolution of a D90 screen. I have to admit being confused by Nikon’s choices on the D7500 and am at somewhat of a loss to be perfectly honest. As of now I’m sticking with my old faithful D7100 and will likely be picking up a D7200 soon. All the Best
I own both cameras, both are amazing. The D7500 has better AF (by 15% I would say) and noticeably better high ISO performance.
i just bought the D7500. sold my D610 for it. Hated the focus on the d610. Debated between the D7500 vs D7200. Having owned a D7100 before, the d7200 isn’t considered an upgrade for me. Not to mention, the d7200 is onyl $250 cheaper. Now, if it had been $500+ cheaper, I may have considered the D7200. I don’t shoot professionally, but I shoot events/weddings several times a year. I also shoot portraits such as family photos, senior, etc. The one card slot was a bummer, but oh well. The d7500 was only going to be served as a back up camera anyway to my D750. Been shooting for many years and haven’t had a single memory card failure, so hopefully the D7500 won’t be the first one to experience that.. lol
Well done ! a very good detailed review, i own a D7200 and used the D7500 for a day while on assignment, and my thoughts are that, even though the D7500 seems better on paper, unless you’re shooting videos or into Sports or Action photography the D7200 is practically more useful for me, with the extra memory card slot, and warmer images, myself being a landscape, wildlife, wedding and Portrait photographer. Hope this adds some value to the excellent points you mentioned.
I have seen many reviews that criticize the elimination of the second card and it is understandable, but, the series sony a7 so far in the a7III is that it has dual cards and that did not prevent the previous models from being used professionally, I do not say that it is not valid but I think it’s making a lot of noise with that
sir I’m very confused between these camera which should I buy d7500 or d7200 ?? especially I used to camera for the street photography and wildlife . I’m d3300 users please recommend me which should I buy ??
