This thing is no good. The verdict is in. It has no market. Those who know will buy something better, those who don’t know will buy something cheaper. This is the biggest camera failure since, well since forever and maybe longer. They should halt production on this yesterday. Crop sensor Dslr’s are yesterdays and news and several mirrorless cameras will blow the doors off this stinker for less money.
Stopped watching when you said you would’ve liked 30MP on a DX sensor. 21MP is plenty for anyone contemplating buying this camera, providing a pixel pitch of 4.2 microns that is sure to give – with current sensor technology and as demonstrated by the D500 – an excellent combo of resolution and low-light performance. The sensor pixel pitch is almost identical to that of a full-frame sensor of 50MP. 30MP on DX would therefore be the equivalent of a 75MP (or thereabouts) FF sensor; way ahead of where the highest res FF sensors currently are. In my view, more MP is a marketing game and, for full frame, anything over 20-24MP (yes, FULL frame) is largely pointless for the majority of photographers out here and serves only to compromise low-light performance and continuous shooting rate and cost you a fortune in memory cards and computer equipment upgrades. More MP will rarely a better photo make. Rarely. Browse a photo site like Flickr some time. Pick out some cool images. Ask yourself; would that photo have benefited from higher sensor resolution? Great photos are about technique, vision, catching a moment; not image resolution.
Would never buy this piece. Single card slot is ridiculous. They cannot design a mirrorless, they are becoming a trash company. Beginning to get rid of all of my Nikon stuff, company is stodgy and regressive. Bye Nikon gear, you designed another worthless body
Hi Matt I am confused ??? I shoot a D7100 great camera . Looking for a better camera and keep my D7100 as a backup. I am woundering should I go full frame D610 / D750 or D810 D810A . I shoot wildlife landscape and urban photos. Nikon D7500 to me looks like a step back one slot low battery life ??? Or get a D500 what do you think ? Thank You Matt
the bean counters at Nikon are getting greedy – I will keep my D7200
If they had put the sensor, RGB meter, 4K video, processor and tilting touch screen in the D7200 it would have been just about perfect, but nobody would buy the D500.
A drawback of the D 5500 fully tilting LCD screen is that those cameras don’t support the Arca Swiss L plate bracket because of the lcd screen hinge. Also, fully tilting out creates a larger camera profile. but either way both designs of the LCD tilting screen are excellent.
Its crippled compared to the Sony A6500 with its 5 axis stabilization… 425 hybrid focus points and touch screen. This is a loser all the way around. Sony is really starting to kick some ass…. I will have to switch pretty soon the way things are going. Nikon and Canon are both stuck on stupid and they refuse to compete with Sony. Oh and the best part… the Sony is the same price. I was really a Nikon fanboy but they are making it VERY difficult to avoid the jump to Sony.
This camera is a complete insult to any D7100/D7200 owner looking to upgrade. It should not be in the D7000 series line.
Nikon really messed up this time around with the D7000 series. Their marketing department must be on crack to cripple a camera that so many people loved. I think they should have less DSLR lines and focus more on each line. Why one earth would they load the D7200 with so many features and now take it all away (most of the stuff that makes the D7100/7200 great in the first place). Canon and Nikon are suffering enough financially and they are NOT learning their lesson at all. Be more like SONY and LISTEN to your customers. Many people are jumping ship NIKON and CANON. HEAR that loud and clear! You guys are basically handing the throne over to SONY!
would not touch this crap, certainly not for over 1000, maybe at 700 – LESS than the 7200. Nikon is heading for the TANK!
fuck off show the camera
where is the camera ????????
blah…blah…..blah….
The LCD is a definite disaster. I will not buy it.
Why Nikon named this camera D7500? will be better name – Nikon D500s or Nikon D6000…
If they include them all in the next model say 8500 8000 it may cost 2500 dollars for the camera.
why do you think a higher megapixel is a good option ?
D7500 is a great camera, a nice upgrade to the 7200 all day long.
You are absolutely right
To memory card slot readers flip out screen on the side and maybe a battery grip three things that bug me on the Nikon D7500 That is the only thing about Ireland that it’s amazing camera for me because I am a photographer and I want to step it up Nikon D7500 For my nieces little birthday parties and nephews and other subjects that I do portraits editing video Again and it is amazing camera all the way so definitely I am going to be buying this as a professional camera after I leave my Sony cyber Cheap ass camera 😞
If you have Cff (card failure fobia), own old Nikon glass or think you need a vertical grip, don’t buy the D7500 but you will be better of with the D7200. For all other users, the D7500 is the better choice especially if you want a fast camera. Battery life is fine and a non issue in practice and the screen is same resolution (640×480) and even more clear than D7200. The number of dots is not relevant (4 color vs 3 color is not comparable that way). Read Thom Hogan’s review. D500 is not for most photographers that are into the D90/D7x line because of price/weight. Different camera’s for different purpose. The only problem of the D7500 is it’s introduction price, but that has been solved by now.
