The d7500 is an update to the d5600 and not the d7200. Check the specs on the d5600 and you’ll see what Nikon are trying to do.

I understand the uproar about losing one slot card, that was a big perk of this line at that price range, but besides that it seems like a pretty nice camera.

Nikon released a statement about the reasons for some of the changes, its weak at best, and they now know this is a flop. Without a representative stepping up to the plate admitting mistakes made and putting forth a plan for action I have lost faith in this company. Regardless of what comes out for the pro market this summer, this is not what you do to make a comeback after huge financial losses, killing off of a line of camera, and having buyouts of employees so they can cut payroll. Fact is this company is no longer relevant to consumers paying less than 2k on a body

Have to disagree with you here. I do not think they could have put a fully articulated screen when the buttons on the left side would clearly make this impossible. Also giving the camera a much higher MP than their flagship DX the D500?! Really…if they were going to increase the mega pixel count they would have done so on the D500. Not on a lower level camera.

Ridiculous decision Nikon… missing out on the second sd card slot, considering my xt2 which is half the depth of the d7500 has two card slots. Must for any serious camera.

This camera makes very little sense. More expensive than the D7200 yet the D7200 wins on photographic spec, d7500 if you want 4k capabilities and a tilting screen.

Really think that this camera will be a lemon for Nikon.

The 20mp D500 makes sense by adding a pro body and focusing abilities along with fps and iso upgrades. The d7500 just doesn’t make any sense at all. Will confuse potential buyers rather than slot in between the D7200 and D500.

A litte set back buy it. I was basically looking for a D7200 with higher frame rate and better buffer. Got those but lost so much more. The D7200 was used by several pros, myself included, while waiting for the D500. This camera no where near that level. No AI-tab, single sd, lower res LCD. etc. The D7200 did a great job. I think Nikon is trying to reclaim the mediocrity prize for intermediate users.Nothing here “turns me on” since I have the D500 now. I would still use the D7200 as a backup, if I hadn’t given it to my wife.

hmm.. just seems like overall, the response is this could and should have been better than what Nikon gave us.. 4 steps forward, 3 steps back… something like that. mostly forward, but some decision and choices.. it’s like they stepped and tripped on their own feet and stumbled with this one out the gates.. not making as grand an entrance as possible for this new model as it probably should or could have.

IDK? is this at the right level for the D7500 and not THAT big a deal and ok for what it is?.. The general vibe it is not.

Just buy an 80D or XT20 if you want the second slot…..maybe not. If 2 slots are important step-up to the D500 or the full frame cameras.

I’m not a Nikon shooter, so I have absolutely no vested interest either way. But, I do find the fact that they’ve stripped so many pro level features from this latest incarnation to be quite problematic. What good are all the positives if the list of negatives, or even one, is a complete deal breaker?

my only complaint’s are if this is the direction Nikon is going with the 7000 series they should have at least made the card an xqd , better strap lugs and left the price at $1k
