If it’s not broke then don’t fix it, if your current setup works then maybe add accessories like Matt mentioned. YouTube has people all confused on what’s best. Some famous photographers still use old gear.
If money is an issue, get the D7100. It’s a great sensor.
The D7200 is in a weird place. It does have some advantages over the D7100, but the D7100 does almost everything the D7200 does for less money.
What advantages the D7200 has over the D7500 … are they really that big a deal? 1 card slot? I carry extra cards anyway. No battery grip? I carry extra batteries anyway.
The extra card slot and battery grip are convenient, but the upgraded autofocus system, sensor and buffer are tangible benefits to every shot you take with a D7500.
Upgrade it to a Tommy Hilfinger V Neck shirt mentioned in the link above..
Hey Matt, I have been going through your videos for quite some time and I find them to be very knowledgeable and helpful, really appreciate your work, thank you. 😊😊
I have recently moved to Nikon DSLR(namely the D7200) from an old Fujifilm point and shoot and hoping to buy an ultra wide angle lens for star trailing and photographing the night sky. Nikkor lenses being quite more expensive than other third party lens manufacturers and also I being limited within a budget had a look over the Tokina AT-X PRO ‘DX’ 11-20mm F/2.8 and also the Tokina AT-X PRO ‘DX’ 14-20mm F/2, because of their fast apertures all throughout their focal length which the Sigma 8-16mm or the new Nikkor 10-20mm doesn’t offer and I have to crank up the ISO to compensate for the comparatively smaller apertures resulting in a more noisy picture. It would be really helpful if you can give your reviews over the Tokina lenses.
Thanks again Matt. 😊😊
100% spend the money on a sharper lens. If you didn’t already have a capable body refurb d7200.
D7100
hi, Matt I want to know that which lens is better nikon 18-105 or 18-140 for Nikon d7200. Thanks in advance…..
D7100 is awesome….. no regrets at all. Plus at $550 from B&H (used but with 1 year warranty) you can’t really beat it. It had 22000 actuations on it when I got it but the shutter is still rated at 150000 so I still have a few years left on it as long as I treat it right.
D7500 all the way. Takes a sharper picture, better build quality whilst being lighter and apparently more weather proofed, and tilt and touch screen. Its an obvious one to me.
I’m a 7100 owner, the fastest thing I shoot regularly is a bride throwing her bouquet 🙂 . So honestly if you’re a mainly sports especially car racing go fro the 7200 I think the extra buffer will be really helpful. May be you can buy a refurbished or good used and save some money.
It`s wrong.
D7100 and D7200 have not the same sensor.
It is similar but not the same
The resolution deffers (24.1 Mp against 24.2 Mp) and produsers: D7100 it`s Toshiba, D7200 – it`s a Sony (of course based on that 5105 senfor from Toshiba after Sony had bought Toshiba but not the exacyly same. Just new sensor based on ex-Toshiba one)
I got the d7000 and I’m just sticking with it until I upgrade to full frame, already got full frame lenses(accommodating for crop factor)
The D7200 has 3.3 more megapixels than the D7500. 20.9 vs 24.2
Definitely get the 7100.
D7100 all the way bro at $500 hell yeah…is a no brainer!!
Buy mint used d7200 on ebay
It not expensive now
D7200, D7500 loses a lot of feature
I’m still on the 7000 and have no plans to swap until I grab the d850. Haha go big or go home :p
I am also looking to upgrade from the Nikon d7000, I was wondering which is the best for wildlife (bird) photography, the Nikon d7100, d7200, or the d7500. I am also getting the Tamron 100-400mm lens Di VC USD lens and don’t know which camera to buy?
Thank you for your video. Since I recently got off the fence and upgraded from the D7000 to the D7500 I thought I would chip in. I also have the D810, my 3rd 800 series full frame camera, so the DX cameras are really my ‘second’ bodies. My reasons for choosing the D7500 after thinking about it for a couple of years were: 1. Firstly regarding the sensors, while it is true the D7200 has higher resolution, the D7500 has a later generation sensor, giving it a much larger buffer and the pixel area is 16% larger. The only real deal breaker for me on resolution would be maximum print size and since both cameras will make good quality prints up to 30 x 40″ there was not enough real world difference to decide in favour of the D7200. 2. The tilt and touch screen on the D7500 is a very good improvement over the D7200 – a big plus. 3. The absence of a second SD card slot on the D7500 is a little disappointing but memory/storage is much cheaper than when the D7000 came out. I use 128GB cards and carry spares if I am out for any length of time – Nikon here again wanting to differentiate by downgrading functionality, annoying but not a deal breaker. 4. The D7500 will not meter with the legacy AIS lenses which I feel is a little bit of corporate meanness from Nikon, again, but I have the D810 so I really don’t worry too much. All would be great with my favourite 300mm f/4E PF ED VR – but the D7500 will shine.
