I have the D7200 for aviation photography, performs AWESOME! If you put some good glass on that D7200, you’ll be impressed. Save money with D7200 too.
The D7500 can’t take AI lenses. The D7100 is the best value and can still be bought new.
I have D7200. Great camera.
Not much to comment on here… Matt your comparisons are absolutely spot on… nothing more to say.
in this case, i would take the D7500 because he said that he shoots in, “low light.” you never know when it’s really important and you need a camera with a better ISO and you never want to regret going for the cheaper camera just because you wanted to save a few bucks.
Does astrophotography and other long exposure work fall under “low light” photography, or is that term more for taking pictures at dim light events, such as weddings, where you can’t use flash?
just to note that D7500 body even refurbished is like $1000, so it does not fit $800 budget
D7500 ….. 100% ….. the newest tech. / processor ….. it is a Mini D500 rather than D7200 upgrade ….
( had the D7000 in 2012 for a year )
The low iso performance of d7200 is worst than d7100 plz make a video about it everywhere i am hearing this but why is it really worst than the d7100 or are all this is a practical joke
My D7200 still good for me. I wait for next type of D500 series.
I recently went from d7000 to d7200 and don’t regret it. The focus system is league ahead, the low light is a big step as well. Everyone told me at the time it wasn’t worth the upgrade now I did it I can confirm it is; better IQ, better focus, better low light, better frame rate, better customizations. The one and only thing which annoys me is battery life isn’t as good.
Budget is $800 body only?? Prices of the bodies are D7100 $700, D7200 $997, D7500 $1,247 new in USA.
Fully agreed with you Matt regarding the logic. D7100 is not suitable for sports and cars because of the shallow buffer. D7500 triumphs in low light but D7200 is no slouch, and Greg does not mention low-light requirement.
I opted for the 7200 purely because I’m only interested in photography. I’ve just bought myself a nifty 50 1.8g and this pairs brilliantly with it. Honestly don’t think you’ll be disappointed with any of these cameras.
D7200
D7500 is better for sports and about half a stop better low light but the lack of memory card and I think the build isn’t as good.
D7100 best low ISO with higher resolution but the buffer and high ISO performance lack
D7200 has the higher resolution for landscapes and can still do well in low light plus has a larger buffer than the D7100. In DX world, I love my D500 but for landscapes, I do miss the extra detail of 24mp.
If you are into video, then D7500 but for still I’d go D7200 and save up for a 70-200 for your first sports lens.
Between D7100 or D7200
Get the 7100 or 7200, the 7500 is watered down. No battery pack, no AIS lens metering Hell its a miracle they put the screw drive motor in it for (D) lenses.🤔
Got to be the D7200 in my opinion 😉
