Hi Michael, So glad I found this video, Will definitely purchase your tutorial, as soon as I can decide which between D7100 and D7200 should I get. My favorite is taking pictures of flowers, birds and landscape. But then I also have to take wedding pictures of a friend, and 1 year birthday of another friend, and capture the movement of a ballet dancer which is also a friend of mine. So I’m confuse which one to get. I currently practicing with my D3100 with a lens of 55-300. Take good pictures of flowers, but with other object not so good.

Great tutorial… and I have been viewing a lot of them. You have given me a lot of info for my 7100 that has been sitting because it seemed overwhelming for a newbie.

Great video tutorial, one of my most misunderstood parts of the Nikon line of focus uses.. You explained it very well in deed. One thing though you may want to add the part about setting the Focus Selector Lock in order to re-position the focal points with the main command dial!! Thanks for sharing this awesome tutorial..It has greatly educated me in taking better pictures…

I have a new d7200 and I cannot change the location of the single focus square using my directional pad.

In AF-C mode, does the focus lock square move to refocus on the moving subject? On my D7200 I don’t see this happening. It does on 3D tracking mode though.

I just bought my D7200 not long ago and was out on safari with chimps and gorillas recently and I wish I’d seen this before I went! I got a lot of great shots, but getting shots with branches between myself and them was a challenge. Thank you. Excellent, straightforward explanations. Much appreciated!

Thanks a lot! What about tracking? As in 70D focus. Not as in exactly, but close enough to it’s tracking focus.
