Thanks for explaining the focal points, you’ve explained a lot that I didn’t understand. You mention though for sports photography to try AFS d9 cluster. When I flick to AFS, I only get the option of “auto” or “s”, do you know what I might have done to the camera to only get these options?

It should be “AFC” for “Continuous Servo”, I screwed up on this. I mean “AF Servo”, but “S” stands for single as explained earlier in the video, so yes this is an error. Sorry about that!

Great video. I am a wedding photographer and my husband just bought me a new D7100 but the settings are very different from my current D5000. I spent a couple hours reading the manual and you explained my problem in 11 minutes.

The f-stop needs to be higher. The lower the f/# the fuzzier the background is and the focus point is the only object in focus.

The video was great, but we are in Italy and many if my pictures are still blurry. I am trying to figure out how to focus the whole picture instead of one point. Example, family walking in Pompei – want big focus area to capture the whole scene. In automatic mode, no luck, tried changing to aperature mode and no luck? On AFA, don’t have time to move the square in these situations. I used to do this all the time with D90 and no problems….all automatic including auto focus. Please help!

Im a total beginner but i want a camera that i can rely on and spend couple of years without upgrading but mostly i will be shouting outdoor, landscape, concerts and eventually weddings and kids stuff.
