very nice lesson << but i am having a problem focusing video with my sigma lens 18-250mm 3.5-6.3 specially while zooming . any suggestion ??

Thank you Michael! That was driving me crazy! I was using a d40x and upgraded to d7100 … just couldn’t figure out how to get the one focal point for sports. I did all kinds of research but couldn’t figure it out. The players will no doubt appreciate!

Thank you so much for posting this video!! I have been shooting pictures with Nikon digital cameras since the D70. I have a D90 and I recently purchased the D7100. I am such an armature photographer but I love taking pictures. This video helped me so much and I really want to purchase your crash corse for the D7100. I have always shot in auto; I know I need to shoot in other modes I just don’t understand how to use them. You would think my now I would of learned. I think learning my camera is key also. I need to take the classes to learn how to shoot really good pictures. Anyway Ty Ty Ty!! ~Brenda~

Thanks for the video Michael. I have issues shooting action (ie runners, taekwondo sparring matches) where my background is focussed but the subject is blurred. On my d7100, my settings are usually AFC(continuous servo mode) and dynamic area (either d1, d9 or d21) with a shutter speed of 500 or faster and auto ISO. I am using a 35-70mm f2.8D lens. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Hello! I recently purchased a 7100. Great video! I have a question on focusing on a group.
Scene: 8 subjects sitting on stairs. 2 people every 2 steps.
Width approx.. 4-4 1/2′. Depth: approx. 8 ft. 0r more..
What technique would you use to get the best focus? What focus settings/modes/clusters do you suggest?
