A pointless specs comparison on paper. Anybody who is buying these cameras already knows the specs.
This video is obviously geared towards a pro. No hobbyist should think about or spend 6,000 dollars on a camera body. Do pros actually need gear comparison advice? lol. So many other cheaper options out there to get the job done. An interesting comparison though.
The only situation I would recommend the D5 is for a professional sport shooter (extreme buffer, durability). The D850 is so much more versatile and half the price, so…
My choice is save a little bit more money for fujifilm gfx 50s
“check mark goes to me” lol hahaha
I shoot sports. However, I am not a big time NFL, NBA guy, so extra 3fps between D5 and D850 is not going to any different. I have to sell lots of pictures to make up the difference in price on the D5. I rather have two D850 with two different glass and have better opportunity on those shots than one D5. My answer is D850 with vertical grib.
It all comes down what kind of photography you are doing. The stuff I do I want maximum image quality so I would go with the D850.
D850 FTW
D5 is probably the world’s best low light camera right now. Usable shots at 102,400 without NR.
I honestly haven’t seen anyone go above 12800 myself in real world use. I don’t go above 6400 myself. These days higher max ISO does not mean better high ISO performance( just llook at 6D ii vs d750)
Buy a good phone.
Can you please explain how having more megapixels translates to not having as clean an image at high iso?
Why they put so many MP on D850 sensor when a little MP improvement over D5 is totally fine? I know the “crop” thing, but.. overall more MP create more problem on D850 compared to D5, expecially ISO noise. With less MP and more attention the D850 is the choice. Also i think AF problems come from software and too high resolution, difficult to track sometimes. Evertime they miss something, don’t know if accidentally :/
D850… because i looooooove waiting for the stuff i purchase.
i take a d 750
Did your father travel a lot??? I t got me scared 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVErv4yOz8s&t=411s
I use flagship bodies. Mostly because I treat my cameras poorly. I drag them through rain, mud and all sorts of crap. I’d actually like something like the D850 and would really prefer it but experience tells me that I need the flagship bodies simply because of the type of use they get. Investing in anything less just wouldn’t work well. Not for me anyway.
I would buy the D5 as I need the faster shooting rate. I’m a photographer for my yearbook at my school and the high iso would be allow me to take better low light photos. I don’t crop much so the higher resolution is Unnecessary. The tougher body would allow me to use it in most conditions without being afraid of breaking my camera.
Maybe if they were the same price, I’d think this would be a valid question. But why buy old tech at twice the price?
Forget that. D850 is more future proof.
