Excellent review!
If you could add a type of sample picture where D5 will make very big difference (and also for d850),
It would be great. You did cover this in the review verbally, but will d5 actually get you much better chance at that action photo which d850 will fail? Could you comment on this please?
D4s 🙂 Mainly for concerts.
If i have those money then ill buy a d750 and invest all money on lenses
Definitely nikon D850 TY
D5. Rugby in all weather and lighting.
I would buy the Nikon D5, (maybe Santa will get me one if I am extra naughty). I have large hands (meat hooks really), at 6′ and 300 lbs I like heavy things. I really like the feel of the larger Nikon bodies, I still shoot a Nikon D2X (I have 3, and my son has 1)…and even with it’s limitations have a hard time considering a consumer camera, even if the upgrades in sensor and MP and dynamic range would be better…I just like the way it feels in my hands. I don’t like to menu dive, so dedicated buttons are a plus. I shoot a lot while driving to create somewhat abstract pieces, literally while driving, so being able to press a button to get that other setup, or quickly shift ISO white balance whatever is a plus (recognize that D850 has similar buttons). I try to treat my gear right, but my camera often gets laid down in the PAX seat with a lot of other stuff on my road trips (weekly), I feel safer with the more rugged body. My film cameras are mostly medium and large format, and I still shoot old Quantum Q-Flash lights (I also have several SB800s, but the Q is the one I like best).
I’m needing a venerable that is well suited for both wildlife and journalism. I’m thinking the D5 is probably the one to go with.
To get it simple, I have bought both of them. Should I choose one, it’s the D5 (even though I hate it doesn’t have focus peaking!)
D850 made in Thailand
D5 made in Japan !!!!!!!!
Both.
I would like to take pictures of surfers in the water with a housing. Which camera do you think would be the best ?
Thanks
Youre such a cutie Jared. Does anyone know when the successor to the D850 will come out? My D810 is looking very tired and I am wondering if a D860? is around the corner
The d5 is a work of art
D850 for weddings and wildlife, D5 for war.
D850 good Sir
check mark….goes to me! haha well played, sir.
I’d get D500 + D850.
You didn’t talk about pixel pitch ans pixel area. Why?
SnapBridge is terrible
I use a D4 and D850
