I love Nikon more than life itself
I own the D5 and think it’s a great camera, but I’m considering selling it to buy a D500 AND D850. Talk me out of it. I need the higher fps for swim meets, but I’m also interested in the higher resolution of the D850 for portraits, landscapes and wildlife.
Having used D850 there are caveats, Best buy i ever made. D5 is a lovely camera, but the cost of getting it in the UK i got a 70-200, a 50mm and 35mm. Saved me money and i got it for what i wanted, Events/sports/weddings/family and its not a massive machine without the grip. Iso argument is just pure BS. I never shoot above 6400, so why need 102,000 iso?? is 24mb is enough of course, i bought mine though because i can crop and still keep quality if needed, can still get extra range on my 70-200 in DX mode but still see a FF view through the viewfinder to help compose the frame better. Buffer in DX mode is unending, FF mode i get around 54-56 i think, but i never burst like that normally and as the buffer clears so fast i find in FF burst that its clearing between shooting of action. Is there anything i would change about it? Totally rotating back screen, so when its vertical i can rotate it, Dual XQD cards please, Some sort of Banding Protection for LV use(i know its frequency issue but there must be a some fix for that). Overall i am really happy, i will be purchasing a backup 850(replace my D800 backup)but i am holding off to see what Mirrorless Nikon is coming out with.
Better is d850 I will by it lesser price and get other stuff to by to fill up the stuff that requires
Thanks Jared for the in-depth review. Keep them coming.
Have them BOTH….my opinion is different tools for different jobs. BOTH great. Like comparing a top line table saw to a 12″ sliding compound miter saw. Both are saws, and great ones at that….but used for different things.
The chek mark goes to jared✔️💯
I gotta go with the D5. The Focus & Tracking was on point with the D5 and the D850 couldn’t keep up that well if the subject was moving in zig zag type motions; not to mention the buffer doesn’t keep up like it does with the D5. So for me personally, the D5 is the way to go because I work in action pet photography; for those working with non-fast moving objects, than yeah the d850 seems to be a great option.
I have nikon d850 I love him very good
super camera 850 i have
I already own a D4 And D810, next one will be D5.
D750 ftw 😀
I like the pro bodies and just buy them used when the price fits my budget. And I don’t care about WiFi or video. That’s why I still shoot a D2H.
D850. I would say why but I just agreed with everything you said, the D5 would probably be too op for me.
Absolutely love your reviews and the way they are structured.
Which is best camera for wildlife photography
which would you recomend Nikon D850 or D5 for sports photography? one is 9fps and the other 14fps, but the 9fps shoots 8k. 🙁 https://goo.gl/UJMMHK have you tryed gurushots.
I’m confused
The D850 embarrasses the D5 in every aspect. Why would anyone buy a $6000 camera that doesn’t preform as well as the $3000 one?!?!?
I got d5 in 2016. Now i ll prefer d 850.. But i love my d5)))
