to me iphone takes the day time and xiaomi takes the evening/night time photos. one thing i like about the xiaomi 12s ultra is the quick auto focus.

You are not suppose to just give one brand winner for all sections, this your second review I am watching about phones and they are not honest,,, you are supposed to compare on each step & tell us why in your opinion one is better. Example, zoom Xiaomi is better while night shots iPhone equalise the point, portrait both device Did well, skin tone iPhone made it a bit warm while Xiaomi brings it out natural and so many others.

Firstly, no global release is a big minus point. Secondly, Xiaomi is always adding new camera sensors but can’t handle the software. You saw that at the launch event, I think they said it was 8 months of software development with Leica because of the corona pandemic. The price is still too high, I mean Xiaomi Mi9 T pro had cost $399 and now the flagship models are from $999 and above. I think $850 would be a good approach. But it will be difficult for many smartphone brands this year because Apple will upgrade their camera sensor to 48MP. So I think even if Xiaomi does some updates it will have to queue up behind Apple again. Xiaomi have to do it like Apple, introduce a camera sensor then perfect the software in 3-5 years and then announce a new one. I mean the 12 MP camera sensor in the 13 Pro max is still the same as in the Iphone 6S. 6 years on development time. It’s crazy, but the results speak for themselves…software is everything these days

color saturation is strong on xiaomi 12s, while the iphone 13 pro max is better on definition

12S Ultra wins every time to me except for front camera (that i almost don’t use). I’ll go with the 12s Ultra!
