Nice camera comparisons as always👍
Apple really gone far on their iPhone camera department that all android OEM struggled to beat them.
13 Pro Max is clear winner here,
My iPhone 11 Pro Max camera still taken some great pictures.

Watched it on my smartphone and I need to watch it on tv to make any conclusions. However, here are some observations:

1.24 max has better sky, but it has a price: The rest is too dark.
1.27 max has better dynamic range
1.38 max has better bokeh
1.44 12s is supposed to have better shutter speed, but clearly not in this water shot.
2.09 Strange that 12s is completely out of focus. Low light issue with 1″?
2.14 12s too dark, but max too bright
2.52 max has wrong blue sky color
3.03 max has wrong blue sky color
3.07 max has wrong blue sky color

The exposure was all over the place. Maybe it is about saving highlight detail? exposure can be tweaked with a software update. I would not loose too much sleep there. The pro mode is highly useful at fixing exposute issues and something that iphone doesn’t have.

The 12s ultra did a better job with retaining highlights where the iphone was blowing them out in the chubb building sign.

More lens flares on the 12s ultra front camera. The 12s Ultra zoom lens was superior to iphone. The xiaomi microphone was also significantly better than the iphone (unless you were inadvertently covering the mic while holding the iphone?

The 12s Ultra is overall a very good phone. But it will still require some tweaking from Xiaomi to beat the 13 .pro max overall in the camera department.

well wait till they fully optimise 12s ultra , iPhone 13 is fully optimised, and for me front camera is not even that important , besides I think your unit have some issue coz MKBHD and others already branded it as one of the best camera phone in the world.

People say iPhone wins in the comments, are you blind? The xiaomi gets so much more natural defenition, the night mode is much better, zoom is much better, a lot more light and much better boken effeect. Also get xiaomi as a better mic. Also why waste so much time talking about selfie video, i have a xiaomi 11t pro for like 6 months now and i have literally 0 photos or videos taken with the selfie camera, its only usefull for videocalls, and video calls dont use high video quality. As of now, I’d say the iphone has a slight edge but only limited to it’s hardware. The 12s ultra with a proper update camera software will literally and I mean literally obliterate the iphone.

The problem with most iphone shots are still the same: strong HDR making pictures look like oil paintings, aggressive yellowing on the skins (at some point I literally though you were suffering from jaundice) and the ol lens flares that appears time to time.

The 12s ultra objectively: has a better dynamic range, faster shutter (not sure why your example didn’t show but I’ve seen on other review samples and the shutters are insanely fast even in night mode), better bokeh, better details and better shadows making the pictures look natural. I’d say it’s as close to entry level DSLR on many occasions. It just needs to tweak a little on it’s software optimization. It’s mostly issues with aggressive beautification that makes it look somewhat unrealistic like too perfect when in reality it isn’t.

Those are just my thoughts but if I had to pick, I’d go with the 12s ultra just for its hardwared which I’m fine with tweaking around since I’m an avid photographer. But, if I were someone who just wants a camera that is good and does not require any tweaking out of the box, the iphone 13 pro is probably the only phone I’d grab

I kinda feel the Xiaomi wins but it’s to saturated and the and the image stabilization still needs some fixing same as the front camera to defeat the iPhone hands down

The results from the 12s ultra are embarrassing! I hope, for them, that is the lack of software optimization, and even if that’s the case it would be unacceptable. Plus, 1080p front video is a joke in 2022. Only good thing seemed the rear facing videos which looked a lot better than the pics in my opinion. Overall the ultra word here is misused.
