Current carplay is frankly underwelming save for being able to use Google maps which I’m sorry will always be better then Apple maps. My BMW infotainment on system 7 is pretty good when used with its iPhone app and bmw have Spotify built in which i subscribe to which doesn’t even need my phone connection or data to use! I like the look of the new carplay but it’s not a deal breaker to buying a new car!

which serious auto manufacturer will trust apple enough to hand over their entire in car UX experience to them? What does apple know about optimising HMI for something you have to drive where the software is not the primary thing you interact with?

Car companies have lost some of that knowledge (that apple never had in the first place) too, over the years. The beauty of simple HMI design being replaced by dumb screens with more and more menu systems. What’s going to differentiate Apple?

Too many people seem to think building a car is like building an iPhone. Cars are complex things, it’s not just a little bit of software development

The slow iPad to desktop transition is KILLING ME. I love my Surface Pro so much but would transition to iPadOS in an instant if it was really an option – I’m in the Apple ecosystem for everything else anyways.
