Hey Marques. I think fault is with Apple on using the Car Play brand interchangeable, but in the video you may have missed that the new Car Play announcement is not for existing car play supported cars. They will still be limited to your infotainment system (i.e. voice control, music, maps).
The demo Apple showed off for your digital dash and HVAC will require the car manufacturers to support Car Play as the native operating system on the car to get that experience. Like Google is doing with Android Automotive as seen in new Polestar cars.

Bro my new car still doesn’t have car play. Like why? Super expensive car and no car play. It wasn’t a deal breaker for me, but I definitely miss having it.

I could see using the car’s infotainment system if you forgot your phone/having connectivity issues or are simply an android user. Though I imagine Google is taking note for the next gen android auto

So basically Apple car play can be developed as SAAS. Imagine the data apple will get and when they develop their own cars.

I still really want the option to run Mac OS on the M1 iPad Pro. I mean, iPad OS is good for some, but not for all. Even with the new features of iPad OS 16, it still feels like the capabilities of the iPad Pro are severely restricted. Also, Final Cut Pro would be nice….just sayin’.
