love the oasis sticker!!
I think the new Air m2 high spec is too close to the entry level Macbook pro 14 which with current discounts here in Australia is $50 cheaper for similar spec’s ie ram and storage. Seems a bit strange of a pricing strategy to me.
Ill be waiting for m3 as i already have m1
Spot on with the M1 Air recommendation. Got mine in April 2022 and very happy with it. Glad I did as they have just hiked the price for the M1 here in Japan.
great video
Hey Mark, great content as always. Just want to mention, there is a 4th category you didn’t mention: web developers. Since web development is mainly still single threaded, our main benefit is single core performance. M1 Pro and up is much stronger in multi-core and GPU performance, so that’s more geared towards developers who can use that extra juice, like game developers and native app developers who run a lot of simulators.
However, us web developers are mainly interested in single core CPU performance, which today M2 shines in the most in the current lineup.
Would love to talk more. Cya around!
I’m sure the M1 would be more than enough for 95% of people, as you say… Query though, given it’s a few years old, whether that would accelerate the phasing out of OS support a few years sooner even though it’s being bought in 2022. Any thoughts on that?
I have to agree. I purchased a refurbished M1 MacBook Air with 16G RAM and 1TB SSD and love it. When the M2 first came out thought about it, but really for what I need, this works GREAT.
Try 2999€ in Europe if you max it out 😂
Just one advice for everyone. Buy as much memory as you can for any MacBook you might buy these days. 👍
It’s for me. Obviously.
The price of the M2 Macbook Air in the UK is due to the bEnEfITS of BREXIT 🙂
Instagram sticker? Why
It’s for the same people who prefer a macbook air with M1 but look for a fresh design and slightly more performance. It’s that simple.
I like the new m2 MacBook Air. I do YouTube content and would not like to get the 14“ pro. Why? At home i use a 32“ LG monitor so size does not matter. But travelling I need some smaller device as it goes with gear. So I might really consider getting the air even though it’s for content creation
I think the m2 Macbook Air is quite interesting for people (like me) who have a much older i5 model and are looking to make the jump to Apple silicon. As someone who doesn’t switch laptops every couple of years, the “future proof” aspect of the m2 Air is appealing even with the higher initial outlay – not just because of the slightly improved performance but for the updated design too which can help the laptop feel fresher for longer. Having said that, you are bang on with the cost of living crisis and if budget is being stretched, then the m1 model is still the choice to make. Such a shame we didn’t see a price drop for the m1 model which would have made the decision between the two even easier for a lot of people!
Are you going to buy an M2 MacBook Air… or are you going to go with the M1 version? GO ⬇️
I can’t get a base 16″ MBP (M1 Pro) for £1900!
Just saying.
Pricing: have you spotted that whereas the M2 MB Air is priced at $1 > £1 ($1199 / £1249) 😯 the MB Pro 14″ is still priced at $1 < £1 ($1999 / £1899)? OK, we have to recognise that the US$ price does not include Sales Tax whereas the GBP price does include VAT, and that increasingly US states are requiring out-of-state on-line purchasers to pay the sales tax, but even so...
