I used to own a 2009 mbp15. I swapped hdd to ssd, boot up 90sec -> 10sec
I have the same one, with 8gb of ram but i´m still with a 500gb hdd! It cames with a 320gb but I change it many years ago. thinking on upgrading to an ssd now. It´s not my primary MacBook but sometimes me and mi wife use it.
Hi Brandon. I recently bought a MBP late 2011 i5 4GB Ram. I’m planning on getting upgraded to ssd and 16gb ram. Thank you for this video! It help me finally make a decision haha. I wanted to buy the retina version but I heard that you can’t really do mu upgrades. So since I’m el cheapo I bought the 2011 mbp instead haha
Can you giveaway to me I love it
I’m still using my 2011 MBP and it’s working perfectly fine. It’s my favorite MBP because of all the features that were stripped from the following models like battery meter, super drive, etc.
i got my 2011 – 17 inch Mac Book Pro using High Sierra
Upgrade my SSD and Memory 2 years back and I still use my 2011 MBP… It’s a beast and a tank!!! Still worth so worth it.
I have an early 2011 MBP, now with SSD and 8GB RAM. Replaced the battery once already but it’s always plugged in. One USB port is out and the internal speakers started to buzz this year. Track pad no longer works, probably bc the battery is swollen. I’ve gone back and forth about buying the new MB Air or new MBP, but cannot justify spending $2000+ for a notebook with similar specifications, esp when this 2011 serves my needs well. I use my device for word processing tasks, surfing the web, bas, playing music or audio through external ChatOne speaker. My IT sons tell me not to bother replacing the USB port or internal speakers, just to buy a new computer. I’ve heard that other users remove the battery if it interferes with the track pad. Anyway, is it worth it to try and fix the USB port and swollen battery and keep going?
The glow apple logo its what represents apple .dont know what they thinking with these new ones ..
How much are these? Great videos will this run emulators I want to play some of my old fave ps1 games :p
I have the MacBook Pro late 2011. I updated the hardrive to SSD and put in 8GB ram. Its just runs fine for general web browsing and lightroom. I love it and really enjoy the keyboard and the glowing apple logo 🙂
I’m thinking about buying a 2011 Mac book pro and right now I have a Samsung chromebook 3. Is it worth the upgrade or is it more of a downgrade?
lol Watching this on my early 2011 MacBook pro 13 inch with 4 gigs of ram !
That hardware was built to last. The software, not so much.
Hi Brandon. Great video. Thanks. I purchased mine new in early 2011. Great machine. Was getting slow so was looking to upgrade. As you recommended, installed a 500GB SSD and 16GB RAM. Night & day… It’s so snappy. It would definitely rival many laptops out there today for performance. Really solid, reliable and enjoyable workhorse. A few years left in her yet! Thanks again and G’day from Sydney Australia. Mark
i used one of the white magic erasers, it cleaned mine real nice when i was waiting for internet to get connected. My battery dies real fast, ive changed the battery twice already it gets real annoying but I love this laptop, i got in 2014 for 400$ and its still my favorite. Im getting ready to update the hard drive and the ram soon as well.
also the lightning port I have never used it, i was wondering how to use it? im assuming theres some kind of adapter that goes in there, but i never really knew what it was for.
10:00 this is incorrect. You cannot find working 2011 MacBook Pros for $150. What you are looking at is where the bidding is, not what they are actually selling for. The actual sold for prices are between $350 and $500.
I’m using High Sierra on a MacBook pro late 2011, according to some sources it will no longer be receiving updates as of November 2020. Should I still consider upgrading it with a new SSD and add two 4 GB RAM?
does airdrop work on the 2011 macbook ? i just ordered one for video editing , i have an iphone 11 pro . if it doesn’t how can i make it work if possible
