The reason the granny game calls the floors in the house the main floor and the first floor are likely due to poor translation. In Spanish, the floors of a house are called this way (after being translated).

I think in Spanish-speaking countries, our “first floor” is their “main floor” and our “second floor” is their “first floor.” So I think it’s a matter of who designed the game and their cultural background.
