the first floor/main floor thing is just an american vs european/asian difference. many european and asian countries call what in the US is the “first floor” the “ground floor”. i actually know a married couple that both thought the other stood them up on their first date because of this difference. one is american and one is british, and they were supposed to meet on the first floor of a mall. needless to say they were on different floors.

interestingly enough though, where i live, a lot of people refer to the ground floor as “ground floor” or “main floor”, but then the floor above that is referred to as the “second floor”, skipping the term “first floor” altogether. but since not everyone does it, this just makes even more room for confusion…

In the UK we call the US “first floor” the ‘ground floor’, and the US “second floor” the ‘first floor’.

Re: the floor naming on the Granny game: I know in a lot of Spanish speaking countries (and maybe other countries too) what we in America consider “the second floor” in called “first floor”. It might just be a difference if it was made in a different country.
