Just to clear up the confusion the floor thing in “bad granny” is because it was probably made by a person from one of the countries with a different floor system. Like in most European countries (as far as I know) the “first floor” actually means the first floor ABOVE the one that is on the ground (hense in UK that one is called the “ground floor” or “main floor” sometimes, and in poland “parter”)
