The “Main floor -> First floor” is standard floor numbering everywhere in the world except America, with the exception that it’s usually “ground” instead of “main floor”. Floors are the reverse sides of ceilings, which is to say the one that is on the ground isn’t actually a floor, so it makes sense.

Since you were talking about the whole main floor first floor thing in the game Granny, in the country my parents were born in America’s first floor was always called the ground floor and America’s second floor was called the first floor so it could be that the developer lives in another country.

fun fact: in other languages, like German for example, the first floor is considered to be the main floor, and the second floor is considered to be the first floor, so it’s more than likely it was poorly translated, as if the app description didn’t give that away already

the whole ground floor/first floor/2nd floor thing may be something lost in translation…
here in netherlands “first floor” is also the first level upstairs 😛 and i know that this is a thing in other european countries as well.
the other way around thing where first floor = ground floor, was really a thing to learn and pick up when i started learning english and traveled abroad!
