yes but the pro is more long lasting
It’s funny now all M1 videos has an intel or Microsoft ad before it or in the middle interesting 🧐
Here to guess how long the Macbook Pro lasted under heavy video editing and ima guess 5 hours.
6 hours for the macbok pro m1
Fact is the pro has better battery than the air .
Thanks for this comprehensive product review and comparisons, immensely helpful to someone like me.
I just received my macbook pro m1 and I’m loving it, moved from my old macbook pro 2013,
Remember M1 was slowest chip ever made by 😉
Dont buy m1 macs they are easy to overheat dont trust apple i have a m1 and its gonna over heat
But for longterm pro is better right?
I thought about buying Air but I never used Mac without Touch Bar yet. Someday I have to get used to using it without Touch Bar if the rumors are true, but while I can I am using it.
Agreed that for most users, the MBA is the solid choice. For those of us who have owned and used the 13″ MBP over the years, the form factor is a winner. I like the MBP’s brighter screen, bigger trackpad, and barely there fan. Once we get to warmer weather and folks want to work outside, the MBA’s passive cooling will limit some work. And I’m a fan of passive cooling in general — I travelled with a 12″ rMB for years. I still own 2 of them. Passive cooling will take you only so far in hot ambient conditions. But, I think most folks will find the MBA a wonderful piece of kit. For my creative and coding work/play, or taking Zoom meetings from my back yard, the MBP is a better choice.
macbook air has less battery life, that in itself makes it not worth it for me.
So, I have the M1 MBP with 16/512. The reviews out there are not quite telling the full story on speed of the M1. For example, opening Chrome cold, meaning that I have not opened before, it will open in 3-4 bounces. iMovie from a cold open, 12-13 bounces. It is only after the application has been opened that you get the blazing speed. The built in apps like Safari, even give a bounce or 2 when opened for the first time. Opening Affinity Photo cold was 25 bounces. Final Cut Pro is in the same boat with a cold boot of 17 bounces and 4 more seconds to timeline. After it has been opened…4 bounces.
The boot up to the login screen is around 17-20 seconds. Compared to my Surface Book 2, that is slow. My SB2 boot and login is 10 seconds.
The best thing with the M1 is the battery life. I can most times get 2-4 days without plugging in. Yes, that is insane!
There are some other issues that I have discovered with the M1 that did not happen with Intel….Crashes. Yes, crashes. When this device goes to sleep for say 30 minutes to a couple of hours, upon wake up and opening Safari, the spinning wheel of death appears. The only option is a hard shutdown. This happens a lot. And before everyone asks about apps installed, booting in safe mode, etc. Yes, the troubleshooting has been done. This seems to be an issue for many per the chatter on the Apple Discussion forums.
This is not to say that the M1 is not a good machine or is not fast. It is fast, but there is a lot of exaggerating out there.
Can’t use mine profissionaly because the bluetooth keeps disconecting, is very annoying and time consuming… issue still not fixed with the Macos released today.. I’m very dissapointed with the machine at this point, have my bluetooth mouse disconnecting frequently is a deal breaker… I tried with booth logitech mx master 3 and a magic mouse 2, and the two mouses suffer from the same issues.
MacBook Air for login x and Final Cut Pro ? Over the MacBook pro ? Interesting 🧐
Good job Apple
clickbait
But if you need laptop so what should i buy now
I am going into college and am not sure what I want to do yet. I’m thinking medical, but again I’m not sure. I like playing video games, but I’m not hardcore about it. I am thinking of going with the 16gb 256 ssd combo. Knowing 256 is not a lot of storage I was thinking of buying external ssd just for games and larger applications to allow the storage on the computer to run basic things. What do you guys think I should go with? More storage or more ssd?
