Regarding the base iPhone 14 models using last year’s chips, I wouldn’t mind it. It never was all about the chip. People care more about battery life, features, cameras, looks, notches and all that than raw numbers. They’ve been trying to bring in more people to their ecosystem and if sticking a one-year-old chip can keep the prices down for a fresh product, then so be it. I feel like hardware is already powerful enough anyway.

Personally though, I can’t shake the feeling that the iPhone SE 4th gen will use the iPhone mini chassis. People definitely think of larger screens as getting “more” phone, so people will always be looking at smaller phones are “less”. And there’s definitely a market for budget-minded users, but definitely not a market for the confused, ugly, outdated SE 3rd gen that they came out with. And that’s what I’ll be looking out for… given they can improve battery life to at least a full day’s use.

I’m keeping my 11pro Max until they completely remove the notch.

I don’t care for better cameras or faster processors neither do I care about the notch to be honest.

Hopefully there will be a software update for this, but what’s the point of having the hole punch and pill shaped cutout if you still can’t at least see the battery percentage.

Who gives a shit? TSMC’s N3 process stalled so we’re getting an iPhone update that’s even more ‘meh’ than usual. Phones are fine. They’ve been fine for a long long time. They were fine when they had bezels. They were fine when they had 60Hz screens. They were fine with GPUs that were a fraction the power of the A15. They’ve been fine so long that people are obsessing over insignificant bullshit like notches vs. punch-hole cameras.

Ask yourself how much your enjoyment of life is changed when you’re carrying a phone with a punch-hole camera instead of one with a notch? Do people really think, “If only my phone had a 240Hz screen, then and only then would I be truly happy!”? This is consumerism at its most absurd.

to my mind, 14 pro would be 400 more so half of pro users wouldn’t make the jump, and that could coz base storage might be 512, apple singularly wants to justify price based on competing camera systems, 48mp is solely for 8k. i would go so far as to claim that all footage would be 8k down sampled, computational videography. i can also see multi camera setups ie multiple 14 pros coordinating on the same shoot. sony already has it on some models. also staggering will become a norm. any company tries to model sales to find sweet spot. that is what birthed 14 pro at $1500 then the back calculation.

for 8k resolution,the phone should bring back Microsd card support or just make slot somewhere for those 2230 SSD m.2 small ones,that way, fast storage & increasing capacity are both fulfilled
