So are there some blocks editing from an SSD to not add “memory traffic” non the Internal memory? WTF? Someone tell them a quality internal SSD lasts something like 10 years of heavy use
That’s a great overview. I’m about to start my fourth week into my M1 MacBook Pro….M1 Max, 4TB SSD, 64GB Memory. Coming from a 15″ late-2013 MacBook Pro, this one is just nuts….I absolutely love it. I love the smaller form factor and the lighter weight, and how well it fits in my backpack. I love the ease of plugging the laptop with just a single TB cable to my TB dock, and everything on my desktop (monitor, backup HDD, audio interface, USB-A hub, etc.) just kicks in and now it’s a desktop computer. I then unplug the TB cable from it before throwing it in my backpack, and it’s a laptop again. I use it with Logic, and looking forward to doing it with Final Cut. Very happy with mine; glad you are with yours.
What’s the control app you’re using on the right side in final cut?
You don’t really discussed the final cut pro!
omg I honestly thought I was the only person in the world cleaning the keyboard of my 14″ Macbook with a lens blower
Great review and exactly what I needed to hear + I just subscribed. I’m definitely getting the 14” pro w/ 2 TB HD. Curious: How much RAM do you get? I keep getting conflicting advice (16 GB vs 32 GB)…
F R I C T I O N
Universal Control is basically a whole wireless multi-monitor desktop. I personally think it’s revolutionary, don’t quote or argue with me on that.
I think you may have sold me on getting the 14 over the 16. Initially I was so against getting the 16, I’m a big guy pushing 6’5 and was like man that 14 will look like a toy in my hands. BUT after going over multiple scenarios I just know that the 16 inch will not be all practical in some situations. There’s no way I can comfortably fit in an economy seat with a 16 inch laptop. I truly believe the 14 will be enough for me – I want the capability to edit videos and photos while traveling but also have the option to plug into my external display when at home.
This will be my first time going back to Mac in a few years – do you use any external mouse or keyboard for it when at home? Looking for recommendations as I’m not too comfortable with scrubbing through a timeline with the trackpad.
Thanks for your video, great job.
Great content! The jokes and personality definetly made the video more worth watching!
exactly what I was looking for
If price were is object, would you prefer the 16″, or just in general for any reason, would you wish to have the 16″ over the 14″?
great review, exactly what i needed! i’ll definitely try to save a little more to afford that 2tb version, what you said about it makes a lot of sense actually
I don’t know why I haven’t come across you yet, but you are my spirit animal
How did you use the mobile for Sidecar?
Okay, so I’ve been going back and forth between (finally) buying that 14″ M1 Pro MacBook I’ve been dreaming of. Working as a filmmaker, mostly doing editing and VFX, my 2017 laptop has been feeling under the weather. But after watching this honest little review, I feel a lot more confident that the time has come to make that meaningful purchase and enjoy the benefits of it! Thank you!
Do you recommend this base model – 10CPU/16GPU, 16GB and 1TB? I see you wished you upgraded to the 2TB.
Great video. I am about to buy and while i know 16GB ram and M1 Pro are showing very similar results i wonder how much of this is down to optimization. Max Tech, for example, saw next to no difference in 16 vs 32gb ram, this was true for After Effects for example, then Adobe released an update and it made a big difference. When people do benchmarks on day one, obviously not many apps out there that have had a chance to optimize. Do you think 16GB ram with Pro 10 core CPU 16GB GPU would be enough if creating proxies for fusion in resolve or doing masking in final cut?
Informative and funny lolol
Great video! I’m glad this computer cut down on the “friction” you’ve experienced with your old MacBook 🙂
