How’s everyone liking THEIR M1 Pro/Max MacBook Pros? Anybody still needing a nudge to pull the trigger and buy one? (It was possible for me to release this video TODAY because of my M1 Pro – would have had to wait until tomorrow if I exported using my 2013 Mac Pro 👎🏻)
Such a great breakdown my dude! Super agree with all your points, and have had a nearly identical experience with it feeling like… Magic. — I got the 2tb and definitely don’t regret the extra cost.. In fact I almost wish I had gotten the 4tb, because I am realizing how much I love editing directly off the SSD.
I dont know anything about editing or computers, but my son/editor is a big fan of your channel. Thanks for sharing!!
I was waiting for this thing to come and then last November my MacBook Pro broke. I had to buy the M1. But its also fine….
Yep, definitely 2tb at least. Actually cheaper then the fast hard drives hanging off the laptop with Velcro anyway, and faster.
Love a tutorial on compressor. Enjoy your videos while watching on 16 ” M1 pro,🌼 like a Home Theatre!
The notch is absolutely non issue specially using apps in full screen. Forgot the notch was a thing until you mentioned it today
Bought the same
Another great video Matthew! You were such an artist!😀 by the way , I have to say, that I am also enjoying my new M1 iMac as well as my new M1 MacBook Air. Quick question? Do you find that editing HDR videos on the new M1 MacBook Pro is a lot better?
Hey man cool! I also just upgraded from a 2013 mbp to a new 14 inch mbp. Does feel like magic.
I got a 14″ M1 Pro and was recently on a long flight and was able to edit and export THREE 10 minute 4k videos with heavy grading and still have 60% battery. Absolute miracle is right.
Glad you are happy with your purchase, Matthew. Sounds like you made a solid investment.
I can’t get side car to work on my 14 M1 max
This is something that I’ve always wondered. Can u use the 14” as a hard drive and edit from that. As in plug it into you desk Mac setup and edit from it as like a external drive. And then when you go to the coffee show it’s all there on the MacBook to continue with?!
You work at a coffee shop? TRT:02:37 “I often find myself working at a coffee shop…” as b-roll shows a barista making a cappuccino, lol. Great video! You got outta the edit bay! Also, you say you went into debt and I thought “Wow, Matt’s got a side hustle, good for him”. I Love my base 14″, struggling to put out just my unboxing video…lol
Got the same one as you. Coming from a 2017 13 inch so it’s an INSANE step up. I think it’s overly positive for sure, but I do have a few irritating pain points with it. My SD card reader works with very few of my standard SD cards that work fine in my dock, airdrop is super slow, and general OS instability here and there that I didn’t see on Intel definitely screams day-one purchase. Regardless, it’s fantastic. Dealing with M1 growing pains is worth it compared to Intel power waste.
…one more thing. You made your point about the 2013 Mac Pro, but please rethink this. Just ditch it and get a CalDigit TS3 Plus 15-Port Thunderbolt 3 Dock or something. I thought the 14″ could handle multiple displays? …and if it can’t, adapt to less screens in favor of faster editing. Hate to see you struggle!
The things you say you’re nuts for… are exactly the things that make me confident you are normal. Everyone else is nuts.
I LOVE my MacMini M1 (16gb) as it runs rings around my 2013 Mac Pro (128gb) on many tasks.
great review~ Thanks for sharing!!
