The weight difference probably has to do with the 2 additional thunderbolt ports on the pro and possibly the additional ram?

I want everyone to know: Just because the M2 Pro has a higher core count, doesn’t necessarily mean its going to be more powerful on the CPU side compared to the M1 Max. Check out benchmarks first before you make your decision.

I’m still holding onto my 2015 iMac 5k as I love the screen and don’t know what I would do with it if I upgraded. If Apple released a way to use the iMac as a display for the Mac Mini I’d order one today.

That’s great, I just ask a question to all of you, I have a Canon R5 45MP and use a Topaz Denoise and Ai Sharpened Filters,, My Question is Wich of M2 Mini configuration will be enought for use wiht my Set up. I really appreciate it a lot since I have a old late 2012 Imac 27″ wiht 32gb of Ram with 1tb of SSD??

Honestly, in Apple’s world 599 for 256 Gb and 8 Gb of RAM may be a good deal for it in 2023, these specs are still too expensive.

32 GB is handicapped so it does not steal sales from the over priced Studio series. LOL $400 for 32 GB unified memory.

You are better off building a Hacintosh with AMD thread ripper.

You have to remember that these Mac Minis have better performance than the $15000 mac pro towers that are only a few years old. I remeber dreaming about getting a spect out Mac Tower less that 5 years ago and these new Minis are right in line with them, yet I feel like they are not powerful enough yet. Amazing times we live in I am glad to have exsisted in the dawn of the tech revolution we are living history everyday. In a few years these new machines will be just ok…Crazy

The Mac Studio Max is the one that’s functionally obsolete when compared to the M2 Max MBP. We have to assume the Studio will be updated to M2 Max and M2 Ultra later this year.

With the EDU discount it’s 499. I think adding the 16GB memory upgrade + high speed thunderbolt external storage makes this a crazy value.

I think it’s going to be the size that will help people make a decision. Which is why Apple price it that way. If you live in a college dorm apartment, maximizing the Mac mini pro makes sense. You can have it with a small desk and carry it to school if you feel that your dorm roommates might steal it or allow someone with a key to come in and steal it. Also if you are traveling the Mac mini pro is cool because you can connect it to the hotel hdmi port when you need it, and when done put it in your small bag or purse.
